Ive tried to 15% run challenge and its too impossible, for me. lol. Ok so Im gonna attempt a 20% or 25% run. Maybe 25% 1st. Which items should I get for 25%?

To give you an idea of my main issues...

- I cant horizontal bomb jump to the wrecked ship. The bombs go off a lot more slowly than ZM's bombs. So I get Speed Booster and just spineshark to the wrecked ship.

- Getting to Ridley I need to use save states & Ridley itself is retardedly hard. Im thinking more/better beams / more super missles but dont know which ones/how much.

Heres a list of what I already got for the 15% run... I will start over tho so...

1) Morph Ball
2) Bombs
3) Charge Beam
4) Ice Beam
5) High Jump
6) Speed Booster
7) Varia Suit
8) Gravity Suit

1 Missle
2 Super Missles
1 Power Bomb
3 Energy Tanks

With your current 15% list, you would not of made it past Mother Brain's first stage. That list is impossible to beat the game with. Exchange hi-jump boots for another super missle pack and you will actually be able to complete the game.

As for increasing the %, I suggest getting more super missle expansions and skip the beam upgrades because they will make the game too easy.

If you're doing anything over a 15% run, but still want the challenge, I'd recommend grabbing Energy Tanks and Super Missiles.  Tanks help getting through the basic rooms, adding a bit of a safety net, and the Super Missiles make the bosses much easier.  Might also be worth collecting Plasma while you're in Maridia.  It'll only add 1%, but would also speed up your boss fights, negating the time loss collecting it.

Hmm.. Looks to me, and correct me if I'm wrong here, like he isn't necessarily worried about time. This radical statement may be way out of the ballpark though. :o
Almost happy
If you want to complete it with as few items as you can, I'd go for the standard 15%, 1 missile tank (spark over the at the lake before WS), 3 super tanks, 1 PB tank, 3 E-tanks, Morph, Bomb, Gravity, Varia, Charge, Ice and Speedbooster, then add plasma. If it is still too hard add Wave, and if it is still too hard add one E-tank at a time until you can beat the game. Supers are great but they don't do you much good in the long run unless you have a lot of them, Beams increase your average damage output for the longer fights much more per added % as far as I see it. And after that you can start decreasing your % again.
Hmm... How would I get to Lower Norfiar w/out the High Jump? I cant do the Gravity Jump trick to save my life. I just turn off my Gravity Suit and wall jump w/ High Jump to get up there.

But anyway I came up with this for 25% Then I will slowly decrease over time.

01) Morph Ball
02) Bombs
03) Charge Beam
04) Ice Beam
05) High Jump
06) Speed Booster
07) Wave Beam
08) Plasma Beam
09) Varia Suit
10) Gravity Suit

1 Power Bomb
1 Missle
7 Energy Tanks
6 Super Missles

If I do 20% I see myself removing the Wave Beam then minusing 2 ETanks & 2 SMissles. I dont know the ins and outs of the MB fight cause I gave up when I got to Ridley and realized I need better beams to kill the bastard since his health is ridiculous and you cant get refills from him. <_<

Pretty sure you'll have to use the gravity jump.  I think you have to do a gravity spin jump and wall jump up in the same place that you are with high jump.

Remove all the supers but 2 before you touch E-tanks or Wave. That should make things easier.
The trick with the gravity jump is to start your jump after the fadeout has already started. You need to pause, then jump, not jump, then pause.

You could try IBJing up there, but you need to time it right to get past the fireballs.

Can't you just shoot his fireballs? Eh?

You would have to DBJ, as IBJing would never make it, especially going straight up. Even with DBJ, it is hard. :o

Yeah I wish, that would make mah 14% fight super fast. >.>

I thought that's how everybody did it. Wink  Maybe it's just me having practiced it too much. aiwebs_011

Nah, I was serious about refills.  I was sure that he has one projectile that you can refill with, but I think I was thinking of the other games in the series.  Shows how much attention I pay when I'm caning him. laugh new
Hmm thats nice to know. Pause Then Jump. So maybe then I wouldnt need to get gravity suit at all.

I made a serious effort using savestates to HBJ or the wall jump trick into Wrecked Ship and failed.

I wonder if you can use the gravity jump to get into the Wrecked Ship area?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
You cannot perform the gravity jump without the suit, as you have to unequip it to do the jump.

Your last question is impossible, as you have to get the suit from the Wrecked Ship, which you're trying to get to.
Ridley only has one projectile in SM, and it doesn't give you any refills. That's part of what makes the fight hard; almost every other bossfight in SM, getting refills is a key component of the fight. It's just Ridley, Botwoon, and Mother Brain that don't drop anything.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Yeah, I realise that, but as I said above, it's just been that long since I've thought about refills during the fight with him that I didn't even think about it.  Added to that the fact that in the more recent games, he does drop refills, I think I can be excused. Angel
I'm pretty sure you can't gravity jump the missile lake (no 100% sure though). Just shinespark over the missile, it's much easier and you have  no reason to skip the speedbooster. unless you're eventually going to turn this into a 14% run.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
As I said above, you CAN'T gravity jump the missile lake, as you don't have the Gravity Suit, because you're on your way to the Wrecked Ship to collect it teach!
