And he does take some technique, though not necessarily skill.

How was it known that you needed the power grip to get past that barrier. Did someone figure it out by chance or what?

Also, what happens when you get to Tourian w/out Ice beam? Would the average guy who knew nothing about how to kill a metroid be screwed?

The fact that you had to bomb-jump your way there when you could have made it with the power grip would've been a tip-off.
