I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Congrats.
Speedrunner
Im watch Dragondarch 100% video. This video looking very cool, this is coolest nes Metroid video ever.

Ok Dargondarch is maybe best speedrunner ever. This not looking same than Metroid fusion 1% single segment but this is absolutely coolest nes Metroid video ever.

Dragondarch are master. Wink
Time bomb set get out fast!

Don't listen, Dragondarch!  It's a trap!

(Seriously, kudos.  I'll watch the run when I have a little bandwidth to spare.)

I'm not watching it, because it'd get me to try to see what I can do differently to try to beat him.
Oh come on Scarlet...you know you want to  Wink

Seriously...competition is what makes this all fun.
Yeah, just you wait.  Once I finish my no-damage Prime run (or, should I say, if I finish), I'm coming after this record.  You will quake in fear as my first ever 100% Metroid run comes in at a blazingly fast time of 1:54:20.  You will soil yourself in terror as my next attempt comes in at 1:28:15.  You will shake with dread as my third attempt comes in at 1:17:56.  You will shake your head in derision as my fourth attempt comes in at 1:16:10.  You will condescendingly shout "asymptote, anyone?" in my general direction as my fifth attempt clocks in at 1:15:56.
...
I'm telling you, by the 342nd attempt, the record will be MINE.
...
Congrats on the WR, Dragondarch.  Wink  And, Scarlet, you should watch the run.  Partly out of curiosity, partly out of courtesy to your fellow speedrunner, but mostly because you're one of the few people with the skill to watch this run, get inspired by it, and turn in a run that's just ever so slightly faster and ever so slightly more awesome.  You not watching the run would be like a sprinter not wanting to watch a replay of one of his competitors breaking his WR in the 100M dash, lowering it from 9.80 to 9.78 seconds, because "if I watch it, I'll just want to beat it."  That's the whole point!  (In my humble opinion.)  Watching the cool runs turned in by others inspires everyone else to even greater accomplishments.  Or, you could just say, "I'm retired from M1", and still watch the run.  Up to you, of course.
well, at the same time, it's not easy being a badass. she probably has other things she wants to do with her life, and becoming motivated to beat random records is then probably akin to becoming motivated to go back to crack cocaine after you're clean. a good way to avoid getting stuck doing something you don't want to do is to avoid situations where other people are doing it or other things that make you want to do it.

Well, I suppose that's true, but I wouldn't say Metroid 100% is a "random" record... Scarlet's been involved in WR's for that game for a long time now.  If she really doesn't want to ever speedrun M1 again, and she knows that if she watches DD's run she'll feel compelled to do so... then I guess she shouldn't watch the run.
...
I guess I just don't understand the whole mindset, though.  I'm not that competitive when it comes to speedrunning.  But, then again, I'm not an elite speedrunner, either.  Maybe I should just shut up.  Rolling Eyes
What is a badass?

Dragondarch : I'll download and watch this run ASAP. This time sounds very impressive. :)

if one of my competitors would break one of my records, I would be the first to watch the new run and I would be very excited by seeing the run. I couldn't wait to watch it. :)
Anywhere, everywhere
Quote from Dictionary.com:
bad*ass (noun)

1. A mean or belligerent person.

Not exactly how I would put it. Now it means like someone really good at something, like Scarlet and speedrunning.

And that's gonna be me! :D

Or not...

Anyhoo awesome run Dragondarch. I already suck at this game and watching this run makes me feel a lot better. Rolling Eyes

Laughing (you need to get a better laughing smiley!)

I'll certainly watch it, but once school is out.  Don't think I'm all "omg I hate DD his video is evil", I just don't want the temptation to attempt to even play the game until summertime.

Plus, I can actually still play this game.  Trying again may stop that once and for all.  I'd rather still enjoy the game while the better player has proven himself.  :o
