Nice speedrun.
congratulations!  absolutely unreal.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT
HOLY SHIT this is amazing, congrats!!!!
are you fucking kidding me
I run this here hotel of an evening
Geez man! What'd the game ever do to you?

Congrats!

here's an analysis of the run i made covering the potential time save in each section. i've done this before in the past but i figured i might as well post it this time. i recommend not opening it until you've actually watched the run.

Frigate - 2 seconds
Incinerator Drone start - 1 second
Morph Ball Bombs - 5 seconds
Ice Beam- 2 second
Ghosts start - 14 seconds
Ghosts - 7 seconds
Ridley cutscene - 3 seconds
Leaving Phendrana - 2 seconds? <- a lot of unknown potential
Magmoor - 4 seconds
Leaving Far Phendrana - 8 seconds
Ship - 6 seconds
Enter Mines - 9 seconds
Power Bomb - 30 seconds
Phazon Suit - 6 seconds
Exiting Mines - 30 seconds
Enter Impact Crater - 14 seconds
Ending - 15 seconds
Total: 2:38

53:55 - 2:38 = 51:17

as you can see, there's still a lot more that can be taken off of the run. this only covers the mistakes that were made but there's obviously still a lot of unknown potential everywhere from new strats, better movement, large breaks etc. (the tas makes this very obvious). i'm convinced that sub-50 is possible, it's only a matter of time i guess.

the run is uploaded in 720p @ 60fps, so enjoy!

never cease to amaze me dude.

...does this mean a :54 is trash now?
Hi T3. What did you use to record and encode this? Capture Card / Programs?

rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
I sure hope you plan on implementing the Frigate wallcrawl!! (I haven't read notes yet, only ~15 minutes into the run). You're general movement is fantastic by the way, really impressive uses of R jumps and bunny hops, other non-TAS runners need to take notes.

Edit: Amazing run, obviously far from perfect but insane either way.

I'd highly recommend you, and anyone else who isn't 100% consistent with the first spider shaft BSJ for that matter, to learn my setup. It's easy, takes practically no time, and gives instant unmorphs at much lower heights, making the BSJ hard to miss. I can make a video solely on how to do it later, but for now just watch it in my run (1h12m15s):

Wedge yourself in the corner between the wall and the rock
Look at that metal pole on the wall
Morph and tap forwards (what messes up the camera)
Roll to the corner of the metal grate thingy and do the BSJ

Also with this set up, if you instant unmorph late and can't jump, morphing again will keep the camera stuck in the same spot.
I've tried to incorporate R jumps and bunny hops ever since I saw his comparison video.
That setup isn't new I don't think (I've been told it by people fairly shortly after it was discovered) but damn it's by far easier than the one miles and T3 use.

Also, I seem bitter but I'm not. 53 is a super sick time dude, congrats.
Just finished watching, insane run! I was really impressed with your general movement and all the new strats you incorporated (the most obvious one being the Wave Beam/Artifact of Sun bit, but also lots of new dashes scattered around). Really well done.

Nice incorporation of the Wave/Sun wallcrawl. Also nice R jumps. And dashes. And general movement.

So does activating IS by the Sun artifact give you both the wave beam and the artifact at the same time?

Also: Beautiful, beautiful run T3. Not even finished watching it yet, but it's awesome. God only knows what a non-TAS sub 40 will look like!aiwebs_001

It's a bit more complicated than that, but doing this does net you Wave Beam and Sun at the same time. It lets you skip fighting Adult Sheegoth and makes it so that you don't need to backtrack to Chozo Ice Temple for Sun later (meaning no more Thardus Dash). Overall it saves like 30 seconds if done perfectly.
That is one very smooth run with zen-like movement.  The route change was great to see in motion.  I liked the new stalagtite dashes at the doors of Twin Fires.  Getting Strength earlier than usual is faster, but left you with only 1 PB for the 2 barriers in Life Grove.  Even being high on health and missles that Seedling drop can't be very high - and so a common run killer.  So congrats for preservering against probability.

Please post any improvements you have, even if its another 0:53.

As for the IS'd Sun: it (or some other artifact) doesn't appear in the menu when Strength is collected (31:02), but is there for Elder (36:00).  What's up with that?

That Seedling always drops PB ammo, 100% of the time. It's there specifically so that you can't get stuck if you end up in that room without any PBs. It respawns infinitely until you break the walls.

i watched this when i was at the beach last weekend. it was a pretty insane run. to think that there's still lots of room to improve.
the 1 hour barrier seems to have been a psychological barrier all along.
great work, very impressive!
