What was the first game you ever tried to speedrun? It could be any game, even metroid games.

First ever speedrun attempt was Metroid Fusion cause I wanted the under 2 hours ending.
Thread title:
Super Metroid I think.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Super Metroid, just because I wanted to get the best ending really badly and I could never get it.

Nowadays, however, getting that best ending is easy-shmeasy.
Cook of the Sea
Every single Metroid game I play I always go through it once and get a time of 6:00 or over at the worst, and I always am like "How can anyone ever possibly beat this thing in 2:00?  "  It's crazy...

I've beaten ZM in 1:12, and II in 2:39.  Haven't really speed-ran on any of the others.
Fusion. Got 1:51, good for me. I tried Prime, 100%. Ended up with 8:45...
Fusion. I don't recall many other games of mine that have an ending time.
There are two speedruns I did, I don't recall which came first though.  One was Extreme G (the original): a little-regarded, insignificant racing title from Acclaim on the N64.  For some weird reason, it is impossible for me to get sick of that game.  There are various ways I speedran it, one was playing the highest difficulty, Expert-Meltdown, in which you go through all twelve tracks with the AI at its toughest.  I can get it done in a little less than 1/2 an hour.  I also tend to think that I hold records, maybe world records for lap times on that game as I pushed that sucker to its limits.  Unfortunately, no one cares.

The other was Goldeneye on N64.  I don't know if it counts, but I played every level as fast as possible, usually a requirement for obtaining the cheats, in a gaming marathon that lasted the entire summer after the game's release.  I'd literally get up every day, and play Goldeneye all day, for three months straight.  I suppose my speedrun time would be the sum of all my best times, only as a rough measure though.  I tell ya, the subtle cymbals after beating a level letting you know you got a new cheat, that's just gaming heaven.  I had more fun getting the cheats than I did using the cheats.

Anyway... don't know if those two count as speedruns, but if you'd call a speedrun the intention to play a game/level as fast as possible, I suppose they apply here.  It's not like any sequence breaking was going down or anything.
Viking
Precursor
I'm working on a Super Mario Bros. 2 speedrun. I have a few stages left to perfect, but it's kinda good already.
直死の魔眼使い
The original Contra. My personal record stood at around 17:67 or so. :)
I think it was Metroid Fusion..
Metroid Zero Mission.
I guess Perfect Dark. Just to get the cheats though. I don't really like to speed run, and I got <2:00 in ZM almost by accident, it's really easy.
