Pokemon Red is cool because it's red.  Nothing else is good about Pokemon.

The originals were fun games... Beyond that it got kinda boring.

Yes. Red+Blue&Yellow were awesome games, and extreamly fun even after they were beaten. Gold and Silver were pretty good too but it was a drag going through catching 251 Pokemon. And then Crystal was pointless and Ruby&Sapphire were no better... and anything that follows, just no point anymore.
