What kind of Codec for Movies?
Divx (4)
Xvid (1)
.mp4 (3)
.mpg (big but no high end PC needed) (0)
Hey, as i now have my capturecard and it runs properly, i am not sure what codec to use, since i hate the spyware divx (you can disable it with adaware, but then you cant render anything with divx)
xvid seems pretty nice and efficient, and .mp4 is no option for me since i dont have a mac...

vote! ;)
Thread title:
DIVX, FIEND!

Don't get me wrong, I'm no techie, but I do know it's something just about everyone can watch.  You don't have to get a player that constantly asks you to upgrade every time you start it, either.
i agree with sess. afaik divx doesn't install any spyware, so it probably came from somewhere else. at least, the divx from divx.com doesn't, which should be all you'll need to work in virtualdub.
DivX is the shivx.  Yea.......

I dont know what your Definition of Spyware is, but the Version from Divx.com is so called "ad-supported", and "Gator" is in my Eyes Spyware...

Anyway, I will use Divx, as i now found out that Divx 5.11 is more capable than xvid (probably bout 5% in short movies, don´t know in more length *shrug*) and is ... more functionally in configurating (at least for me)

and, if Nate says Divx, i will use Divx *obey* ;)

thx for Listening

[edit] *cough* i am blind, radix showed me the way to divx w/o spyware =)

Ready and willing.
Yeah, there's different versions of Divx: the codecs for playback, the renderer you have to pay for, and the renderer that's (clearly marked) spyware but free.
