Could be because of the Daft Punk sample. ;)
One of my current favorites, as well.

Heh, so you're finally listening to them. :)

Don't forget to check out Sunndal Song and Beautiful Machine, all four parts.
What You Need - Sonic Rush - Hideki Naganuma
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
http://www.middleisland.net/sound.htm , currently listening to "Enchained SILENT NIGHT"
That particular site has some really awesome songs. <3 (It's one of the links from the site I posted earlier)

Lol, yeah.  grin new

Also, I like the song because Kanye is apparently the only rapper that learned English. Most rap is like "ofme oingv HOMEEEEYYY whe GEE difvmwi WHOA WHOAAAAA!" to me. Kanye sounds like this: "Now that don't kill me, can only make me stronger" I guess he was the only one that "Graduated" from English class. Ha ha...

Someone doesn't know jack shit about rap.
it's not really rap so much as english in general.

West sounds quite a bit like most other rappers to me, but that's probably because I don't listen to rap all that much because I don't particularly care for it (similarly, most country singers sound alike to me). But just because you don't like a certain type of music doesn't mean everyone in said genre doesn't know what they're doing. Obviously rappers appeal to quite a large audience and are making heaps of money, so they must know very well what they're doing.

If you want more examples of "well-read" rappers, listen to Jay-Z or Eminem. They do what Kanye West tries to do, only better imo.

You are stupid and also dumb. Don't state your opinion.

Yep. Saber's flame right after I state an opinion is right on cue. Thanks for being a jerk.

Also, what did you expect? "The only rap song I actually like" Of course I don't know jack shit about rap. I usually HATE IT! I personally prefer country and classic rock myself, but that's just my opinion for you guys to flame me for.

Also, in my post I was refering to those rappers that you can't even comprehend, and how much more understandable Kanye is. I guess you could count Jay-Z and Eminem (who is less understandable than Kanye for my ears, but since when was I allowed to state my opinion) in there too.

Currently listening to:

Runnin' With the Devil
Van Halen
Van Halen (Remastered)

The car horn in the beginning hurts my ears, though, no matter how low the volume.  Evil or Very Mad Good song overall.
in the name of justice!
Well regardless, it's not much of a question of language proficiency (not to dismiss the importance of enunciation but it's not emphasized at all in the education system).

I usually listen to music for the music parts and not lyrics-if there are vocals I'm often happier not knowing what they mean.  There are a couple of huge counter-examples but not many.  At any rate, the only rap I listen to is:
a) The Roots, though I'm sure I'd find more that I'd like if I only cared to look for it
b) incredibly silly shit like the rapping from Persona 3 or the DK rap

But right now...Shnabubula's website has finally re-opened (...at some point in the last month, I stopped checking too religiously) and brought with it a lot of stuff I've never gotten to hear before.  He being probably my favorite musician in the world, I'm a little excited.  So for me:

"Fluorescent Gypsy Juice" - She's a Grammar God - Samuel Ascher-Weiss
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
Okay, suttsman, there is in fact a big difference between attacking someone's opinion and attacking them. Only the latter is flaming.

So stating that you don't know jack shit about rap, a fact which you readily admit, is being a jerk?  Wow.

You made a statement about "most rap", implying that you know shit about most rap, and we've just agreed that you don't know shit about rap, which is why I felt I needed to call attention to the fact with my post.

I also fail to see how what you quoted is in any way an example of correct English.

1. No, turning on the flamethrower right after I post an opinion is what I was calling you a jerk for.

2. I flip past MTV2 a lot. Almost every time I see/hear rap, I have to turn on the subtitles to find out what the hell they're saying, right before I change the channel.

3. People take me tooooooo seriously. All I am saying is I can understand what Kanye is saying. The part about graduating english class is a JOKE, combining his new CD title with his good pronunciation. (Well, I certainly hope that Kanye passed English, but whatever)

Saber said that he doesn't see how this:

"Now that don't kill me, can only make me stronger"

is an example of correct English. Saber is right, though what you quoted isn't even the correct lyrics.

The song actually starts "N-N-Now that that don't kill me can only make me stronger", which still isn't proper English.
Agent Heart
Again, IT WAS A JOKE. I said Pronunciation, not Grammar.

Also, I knew that the real lyrics were what you said. I just got rid of the extra "n"s and "tha"s in mine. Oh, and it's "can only make me stronger", not us stronger, but whatever.

Ahaha, you're judging an entire genre based on what they play on MTV?  And you're expecting us to believe you're intelligent?

This topic is about "What are you listening to right now":
Starstylers - Higher (Radio Edit)
Dethklok - The Dethalbum

A friend decided to um... recommend it to me. And I find it rude to not listen to stuff people... um... recommend to me. So I'm listening to it. Quite catchy, actually!
