*hates El Jacko for having Mother 1 & 2 for GBA*
I like my SP. I think it's a HUGE improvement over the GBA. Here's why

1. Front lit screen. I can play it in Pitch Black

2. Serves as a useful torch to find my way across my hazardous bedroom avoiding all the cables and shoes and stuff my brother leaves lying

3. FREE BATTERY!!! Ok so its not free, but this way I don't have to keep paying for batteries or have to buy new rechargeables every year or 2 (they go done after a while).

4. Free charger - Always ncie to get the charger WITH the GB. Unlike my GBC where I had to pay more £££ to get a power pack and charger!

5. Foldup - Nice and fold uppy so it can be carries easily
-----------

I have but one complaint.

Older GB games. Hit 'L' and its stretched across the screen and looks rediculous.... Also hurts my eyes looking at it.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely

"Doctor, it hurts when I move my arm like this."
"So don't move your arm like that."
LOL. That's why I play with regular screen on. Tho I do sometimes hit L by accident :P

"6. No headphone jack"

wait...
I kinda wish there was a headphone socket.... I'm not that worried about it tho.
Yay ^_^ I thought it was a great thing when I got it for christmas... Hehe its awesome! For all the reasons stated above and like Skynes said, Its a great torch :P And also is the perfect size for me ^_^ (Mine is black to match my cube and gba player (I dont think the gba player has choice colors?))  And on another note, the d-pad is great.... unlike GC controllers..... HO BOY!! Do I ever hate using the gba player with the d-pad (You are all probably saing that I should use the analog stick then.... Well, I do, but its not the fastest thing when I would hack up Metroid Fusion....) Do you know what I'm saying?

Actually, when I first got this, I was interested how long it would last because I was being very liberal with charging and I played like non-stop. Given the recharge figure in the manual (which would probably be lower than what really happens to avoid lawsuits), I figured that even playing it almost 24/7, by the time you run out, the next Gameboy incarnation WILL have been released.
I'd really like an SP -- my current GBA is getting old.

I wish I could get Mother 1+2 but I don't read Japanese. Are they bringing it to North America?

It's smaller. I don't have huge pockets. It's also more comfortable, rechargable, and has a light. The battery will take a LONG time to weaken to the point of needing replacing. It only ever runs out on me during a long session of Crystal Chronicles. It's already paid for itself with the money not spent on batteries...

Oh, and add another tally to the Wario Ware fans list. :D

Turn off the back light (when you aren't looking at it) and don't turn up the volume... That will make it last a loooooooooong time.  I wanted to see how long it would last playing FFTA, I used low volume and the back light... after 12 hours it was still running strong.
*loves his SP*
Yeah, the batteries are so long lasting.  It helps when you are just in need to a game (:))
* hugs his gameboy advance because his gameboy SP was faulty and broke his mzm game and he''ll never go near it again *

If I'm not mistaken, the official running time of the SP when the light is not in use is 15hrs.  With the light is 10.  If all you got was +12hrs in actual practice with the light off and no sound, The GBA can easily double that with sound.  Easily.  Yay for old-school GBAs!  :D
I actually found a new way of holding the SP for things like FFTA and Pokemon. Fold the screen so it is at a 90 degree angle with the section with the buttons, the orient the SP so the screen is facing toward you, place your thumbs under the SP, and use your index and middle fingers for A, B, Start, Light, Select, and the D-pad. Use your ring fingers for L&R. Feels really good if A: you've been using the "traditional" control scheme. OR B: Your thumbs are immonbile and completely unusable.
I love my sp I even keep it in the plastic that it came in. ( I'm not joking) My sp has not a single scratch or nothing. I've only had to recharge it 4 times since sep 9. I only have fusion and ffta for it. I also use it for ffcc. I love my sp but I left it in my friends car so now I have to go to his house on bus to get it tonight instead of waiting till tomorow.
I don't have an SP, so I'm gonna diss it. It doesn't have a headphone jack, not as comfrtable as a regular, non-GBA games stick out annoyingly, and the buttons aren't as good. So :P

I have no problems with the comfort, buttons, or games sticking out. It looks like it would be uncomfortable, but really it's just fine. Lack of headphone jack is a little annoying, but frankly that front lighting makes up for it. The non-lit GBA screen is such a pain.

I want a SP :(

Still playing with my old pink GBA.

skynes, you must be nuts :) I always play older games with stretched screen. It looks... nicer. It just feels uncomfortable with half of the screen black.

(damn you, el jacko... I want Mother 1+2...)

EarthBound. I've never actually finished it... I'm in Magicant right now. Magicant Bat and PSI Music Gamma are my friends.

It's my favourite RPG of all time, because I've grown tired of Final Fantasy. I liked it, but God I hate Random Encounters with all of my heart.

I <3 Earthbound, i got so mad when they never announced the mother 1+2 combo was coming out in america.

so, i just decided to say fuck it and buy a copy for my snes.

and i did, and all was well.  (for me anyway, sorry about you unlucky people without a snes)
Ah Earthbound, I owned it for quite a few years now. Stupid having trouble with getting the flickerbatting Sword of Kings! Ah well. You CAN get the Mother  1 & 2 copy... Hard, but possible. But personally, I'm just happy with my cartage.
