Hi. For the first time since metroid prime came out, I've been meaning to do a speed run since I was inspired by all the videos found on your site.

I wanted to ask if you could make a video of a player's hands on the controller as he's doing the scan jump to get early space jump. I read it but I'm more of a visual learner and it would help a lot if you guys could make a video.

Thanks.

This guy's got a point, y'all.
yeah, too bad i don't have time to dig out my camera right now. i seriously considered it yesterday but honestly i just can't justify it right now.

xmas.
I'm in no rush. You can make it whenever you have time.

In the meantime, I'm just trying out other stuff.

Thank you though.

Oh lord. Please do this. I've said it in the past—SJ first is the only friggin' scan dash I can't perform. I can dash across Main Quarry all day long, but that one gets me every time. I'll practice it for a half hour and won't be any closer to getting it.

I know how you feel man.
Weird, because for me the dash to get SJF is pretty much the ONLY scan dash that I know how to do. Either that, or I really haven't tried it enough in other areas to make a clear assessment of my skills with it...

Ok people here ya go. I made the video of my hands from the space ship clear to space jump boots. I messed up so i had to make the dash twice. I hope this helps. I never realized all the little twitches i do with my hands to do this stuff. Im uploading it as i type this so it will be a few minutes.

Do you know how much I love you right now?

well it is a pretty bad video and i don't know how much it will help. Just watch the parts right after i use my right thumb to turn on the scan visor. I do it twice right at the begginning and then i messed up and hop on the ship and do it again so you get two slightly different looks at it hopefully.
It's fine. I'm sure I can figure it out from here. I'm WAY much better when I have a visual.

Thank you :D

Maybe it will help if you could see my hands and the screen at the same time. sorry about that. i will put up a better vid tomorrow and maybe that will help more. I will try to make it like a tutorial video for everyone on space jump first.

sorry about the lighting. didn't want to wait until tomorrow to do it when i probably wouldn't have the time. they're divx btw.
Wow nate. You make it look so much easier. Thank you.

Clip those fingernails, boy!
So after the "haduken" like motion of the thumb on the stick, you press B and let go of the L button right at the end or right before you press B?

it's not really hadouken even though it looks like it; i'm just doing it poorly. you only have to snap due right afaik. as for the order of the buttons, unfortunately i don't have time right now to really break it down, but you might try the sj first page on this site again; iirc it lists the presses in order. iirc though yes, l is the last button to be depressed before you are holding nothing and standing on the ledge.
