Good idea? (5)
Bad idea? (14)
Almost every board I have gone too has some kind of SPAM forum, somewhere where people can post anything they want as much as they want, but the post counter gets turned off of course. Does anyone think this is a good idea for this board? Somewhere where you can post your test mark of if you just won something or basicly anything. Good idea? Bad idea?
Thread title:
No. That would attract senseless posting to other parts of the board.

I don't think it would be a good idea, it not only promotes spam but who really wants to read through piles upon piles of corrupted evil spam?
This is pointlessness to the EXTREME!
You'd be surprise, it is just somewhere where people can speak their mind without having to fall back on all those rules, but there would be the obvious rules there. I, obviously, personally, think it is a good idea. As long as posts arn't given out and it is properly maintained there would be no harm.

That's why there's gameFAQs.
The "Thread of the week - *topic*", where basically the thread wont be locked untill the next sundays 00:00, or if it reaches a certain amount of pages (which i have no idea what a good amount would be), is a pretty good idea IMO.

If you don't want to obey the rules, you shouldn't even register. There's nothing you can't take to another forum.
What? I have no problem with following rules, just some people enjoy making those typics that are SPAM in most everywhere else. Jeez.

Isn't that kind've what 'The Boardwalk' section already kind of is?

RS, I think he means a forum for posting topics that are against the rules, like advertisements, post counts, random crap (think of a hundred posts saying "ring ring ring ring ring ring ring BANANA PHONE!"), etc.

and Superion, you just supported my statement with that comment. If you want to post spam, do it in the predesignated topics in other forums. That's why they have them, so we won't have to. Wink

And by the way, I didn't mean you wouldn't follow the rules, just that if somebody else doesn't want to, they don't belong here. If you're generally pleasant, I've no objection of your continued visits.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.

I just found it to be too appropriate.
You guys don't really follow the consept, oh well, my wrong for mentioning a new idea. I learned my lesson. x_x

If LUE (from Gamefaqs) is any indication of how it'd be, then I vote no until the end of time.

Pointless, and brings idiots around which would flood into the normal areas as well.

no need to worry.
Right, let me evaluate my idea, stolen from the Swedish PCGamer forum:
Every monday a Moderator or an Administrator start a "topic of the week - *something*". Note that the topic of the week is competely irrelevant if you want to, the point of this topic is to let people spam, but hopefully creative spam and actually discuss about stuff.
But ofcourse theres a few rules:
The topic will be locked when the clock hits 0:00 am at Sunday or:The topic will be locked when it hits a certain amount of pages, and a new one will not be created untill the next monday starts
Hopefully a thread like this will lower the amount of pointless threads thats way to small and undiscussable, and lower spam in a otherwise great thread.

Not too shabby idea, right?
it sounds like that idea would be proportionally more effective the larger the forum it were tried in, and the m2k2 forum isn't very large ...
But you have to admit that theres lots of spam in this forum..

*hides his 'Profile -> Find all posts by TRH'*
You know, the best solution to thos was one board I once hung around in. There wasn't a spam forum, but there was a spam thread called "Spam Train!". Post count was not disabled in that thread, either. It sure was a lot of fun...
lol no way
No, spam forums promote thinking like "I have a higher post count and am thus better than you."

I think we're all gauging spammage completely differently. You guys are talking about random things that have nothing to do with Metroid, but people like to talk about, such as "Who's in a band?" and "What's with this website?" That's what the Boardwalk is for in the first place. We think of spam as crap that people say that have nothing to do with anything, and has no intended purpose whatsoever except to shoot off one's mouth, so to speak. Basically, posting for the soul purpose of posting, and nothing else. We frown upon that, but you can always find us posting things that have no importance except to see what people think and to further our own knowledge and understanding about the way things work in the world, or is just plain entertaining. We just don't find things like "What's your favorite piece of string? I like chocolate" to be entertaining or wise/informative.
yeah, and i delete them when i see them.
lol no way
Yeah, I know, cause I never get to have any fun. Why the hell am I a mod, I've never ever done anything except change the "subject:" line of a few people's posts to like "lol i eat poop" when their posts made me mad... not that I don't like the moddage, that is. :p
SPM forums are good for timewasting topic games, like the "Anything Word Game" or "Post A Lie About The Last Poster" and stuff like that, if I made those here they would be closed, or should be at least. Maybe this forum is too small to make use of a SPAM forum, but they are a big part of most other forums.
