I decided to try dueling for vertebra shackles.  I got 20 in about 3 hours or so, and I just hate it so much I don't think I can keep going.  It takes so damn long to find someone who isn't wearing havel armor, or casting spells that remove 90% of your health.  And why do SO many people use the dragon crescent axe?  It's not that great of a weapon.  Heavy weapons, heavy armor, and heavy shields seem to be very popular in pvp.  I never use heavy armor or shields, and very rarely use heavy weapons.  So I'm unfamiliar with all the weapon skills with the heavy equipment.

I win about half of the matches that I play in.  I've gotten to the point where I just jump to my death if I see them cast or if they have a greatshield equipped.
OR if they use tons of gestures.  I hardly ever use them, but when I do it takes me 5 seconds to locate the gesture and activate it, so I have no idea how someone is able to use a dozen different gestures as if they were simply willing them instead of using controller input, so whatever it is they're doing it is beyond my capability.

I decided to try using the bow gesture as a pact to not use estus during the duel. In the past, I never did the bow, but I knew what it meant and I didn't use estus if they bowed at the beginning.  So what happens when I decide to start using the bow?  I get attacked while I'm in the middle of it. Not once, but multiple times.  I thought that was rare. I've never done it to someone because I thought it was a no-no, but I guess there are plenty of people who will bow and then kill you as soon as you try to bow back.
I'd rather get 20 in 30 hours and not PvP
I thought you liked pvp?
You must be confusing me with someone else, I haven't played a Souls game online since 2014
hmm I must be.

There's a ton of shit I can't figure out about pvp.  I thought it was impossible to lose your souls during pvp, so when I first started playing it last night I had over 400K souls and to my horror I looked down and it said ZERO.  WTF?  Gone.  All of them.  Forever.

So then I noticed that there was a blood stain left after you die, so I started regaining my souls after each death.  I would end up earning a whole bunch more, and then to my shock I would touch my bloodstain and I would only get like 3000 souls back when I had over 100K a few minutes ago.  It seems to be totally random.  I could have leveled up 7 or 8 times by now if I could only understand how I keep losing them.
Pretty sure your souls are only safe if you're in someone else's world, otherwise the rules are as usual
That can't be true because I'm only laying out my summon sign and they're summoning me into their world.

Tonight's a bust for pvp anyways.  2 hours and I've only gotten one vertebra.  I've been summoned dozens of times and have only found ONE person that wants to duel and managed to be summoned by them twice.  Everyone else either wants to play stupid games.  Some kid in havel gear named 'assbutt' summons me over and over and all he does is wiggle the joystick in a circle and run away from you until you decide to kill yourself.  And another dork who just runs from you while his friend tries to hit you with great-arrows from some far away hidden location.  Or it will be two or three kids that all come for you at once.  I'm probably older than all the other players online right now combined.
Time to farm skeletons
I managed to get two more!  If the person I'm dueling uses a weapon I'm familiar with then I do well.  If they use some weird weapon and spam the weapon skill over and over while using estus every time I manage to nick them then I just jump off the cliff.
Master of Pyromancy is mine!  :)
How many more before platinum?
4 I think
It completely sucks that you are unable to block a player from invading your game.  I've the same kid THREE times tonight.  All he does is get his ass kicked, run, and use estus.  Then he hangs around near enemy mobs and casts spells.  I tried to wait him out because I basically can't do anything at that point, and sat there for 20 minutes.  The next two times he did it, I just turned the damn thing off.  I was a little surprised when the same kid invaded twice, but THREE times?  Come on.  There has to be a way to keep him out of my game.  He's the only person who has invaded me all evening.  How?
I think if you keep turning it off you'll get some sort of disconnecting punishment and won't be invaded anymore? Not sure though

If he keeps running away you can also just run to the boss

Though at this point I don't know why you're playing online
I would like to earn this disconnecting punishment you speak of.  But it would be so much better if you could block an individual player from invading your game.  I think it's completely asinine that this feature doesn't already exist.  There was a hacker that made my game unplayable in DKS2 for two days in a row and all I could do is just play offline.  And this guy has wasted the better part of an hour of my play time this evening.

He goes to a places where there are mobs that he can shoot crystal soul spear from and it's pretty much a death sentence to even attempt to run through that.  But when I get him in from of me I hack him down to almost nothing and he just runs and uses estus.  That's his MO I guess.

I don't get why an invader would run to begin with.  If you invade someone's game, doesn't that mean you want to fight them?  I'm confused.
Because he's ranged and can use enemies as cover. You could get some giant seeds I guess

Other than that there might be a "last couple players met" list on the PS4, and if you can block their PSN from there they probably won't be able to invade anymore? I think this works on Steam and PS3, but no clue about PS4
You can't.  I did plenty of searching and looking online.  I can block him from sending me messages, but there's no way to block him from invading my game.  That's why I said that I can't believe there's no way to do it.

Leonhard just keeps killing me over and over. It's funny how on this playthrough I seem to die repeatedly in places that I never had a problem before while having no problem at all in places that I previously struggled.  It's like they only made some parts harder on NG+.

He kills me in just three hits, and with how fast his attacks are he can easily hit me three times in less than 2 seconds.  He ripostes me with complete ease, and it's an instant kill.  I've gotten him to near death many times, but he has unlimited estus and uses it every time he has less than half damage.  I can't hit him with an undead hunter charm because he just dodges all 5 of the ones I can carry.  He's either unparryable or incredibly difficult to parry.  The wiki offers absolutely zero information about fighting him and only talks about his questline, which is strange because even the NPC's that you would never have a reason to fight have info on fighting them.

I'm done with this for now.  I've wasted 90 minutes doing this.

Master of Sorceries is mine :)
Master of Miracles is mine!
Usurpation of Fire is mine!

Now all I need is the gestures trophy and the rings trophy

The ringed city is so gorgeous

Only rings left are the ones in NG++, and the only gesture left has to be obtained before killing abyss walkers so that will have to wait until NG++ too.

On to Zelda DLC!
Good job on the trophies.

I don't even bother with all that stuff in the Souls games because it's too much.
jesus it looks like I won't be getting the last trophy after all.  I sold the Ring of Steel Protection +1 that I got when I played NG+, and the wiki said not to worry because you can just pick up any rings again later in your next playthrough.  I'm in NG++ and guess what?  It's not there.  Fuck me.
Are you sure?

+1 Version (NG+): Untended Graves, on the right side of the tower that is unlocked by the Tower Key

How far are you into the game cycle? The Hornet Ring in Untended Graves doesn't appear until you kill Abyss Watchers, maybe there's something similar going on here.

That said, why did you sell it in the first place?
oh shit I was thinking it was by the tower outside of firelink shrine, not the dark version of that area past Oceiros.  Will it still be there now that I'm in NG++?
