Upper Cathedral is way shorter than I remembered (including the Altar). Pretty nice area, easy too.
Almost done w/ the DLC.
Ludwig was hard. I don't recall having this much trouble with him before. Maybe he deals a ton more damage in NG+. I had no problem draining his energy with Whirligig, but the challenge was finding an opportunity to take a breath and manage my stamina. This dude is relentless. Cool fight.
First try'd Living Failures and Maria.
I enjoyed the exploration in the DLC better this time, maybe because there was less pressure. I don't think I found the shortcut to the Bizarro Cathedral Ward my first time through. One of the armor pieces I missed was right next to the shortcut, and I recall doing some serious backtracking after dying somewhere in that area. Neato, new thing learned.
Still gotta explore Fishing Hamlet and fight Laurence and OoK. Oh boy. Also can't forget to eat the Walter Sullivan thing before the end.
1st try Orphan. I kinda just tanked him. Didn't know that was possible in NG+. I find that I have less trouble against bosses in BB staying unlocked in general, and that was a big difference compared to my NG OoK fight. I do want to learn parry timing for bosses eventually, though.
Laurence was a bit more tricky because he hits hard, but I still didn't die.
Final bosses were improv'd with blind hits and tons of healing, just like my first playthrough. I still don't know how to fight them, haha. Both first try, though, so yay. I could barely heal at the end (actually I couldn't heal at all, because Moon Presence used the 'no heal' status thing... luckily he left himself vulnerable right after I got hit with that).
This game is amazing. I don't have a lot of PS4 games yet but Bloodborne is probably my favorite on the system so far. Already looking forward to NG+2. I wanna try a new STR weapon and maybe use beast more often.
The official Dark Souls page on Facebook announced that the Demon's Souls servers will be terminated on Feb 28th next year. Umbasa, everyone. At least now I can make my main dude OP. He's at SL125, I think. Glad I got some headwrap items while they were available (they should just give you those offline now honestly).
Btw, I'm starting Dark Souls 3 sometime in the next 30-40 days. Maybe I'll wait until early next year, but anyway, expect walls of text and hopefully not a lot of frustration soon-ish.
you're right, it goes offline globally. now I know what to play next february.
In a way it's not a huge loss for me since I played the game so late the online's been on life support ever since I own it. On the other hand Demon's Souls system is really unique, so I don't like seeing it go forever.
I'm so frustrated playing DKS3. I'm in the area outside of the huge cathedral that the deacons are in. It's the area with all the buttresses, archers that use crossbows with fire arrows, little dudes with long pointy hats on, and guys who use estus-blocking charms on you, etc. There's a covered area just before you get to the first open-able huge blue doors that has two twin-blade fighters in it. I could have sworn on my life that one of the big square columns in this area had a ladder on it that goes up to an elevator, but there's no ladder there. I've backtracked, I've gone through much of the cathedral, and still I cannot find this area. Why? I've died so many times trying to find this damn ladder.
The only ladder on the outside of the Cathedral I can think of goes up to he roof where you get a ring off of a cleric, and gain access to the rafters with the Knights. Don't think any lead to elevators, though?
nvm I found it. The elevator is INSIDE the column and it starts far below by the bonfire. Then when you get to the top, there's a ladder that you can take up to get the deep ring. For some reason, my senile mind thought I could access that elevator from the previously described location.
I'm going to make another attempt to get the Usurpation of Fire ending. I don't have high hopes because both wikis contradict each other, and one of them even contradicts itself. There are also two video guides that give totally different instructions. Some say do this, some say don't do this, etc. I'm just crossing my fingers here.
Right now I just keep dying over and over on the easiest boss ever: Lord Wolnir. On NG+ he summons all kinds of skeletons and uses a huge sword very early in the fight, which is something he only does on the first playthrough if you take a really long time to kill him. He also uses his breath attack far more often and you can't run far away enough from it if he's moved forward twice, so there's no where to go at that point. Ugh.
I was able to kill him after about 6 tries. The successful attempt was very different than the previous attempts. He never even got out his sword.
I was FINALLY able to get Sirris' questline to happen on the bridge to Irrithryl (sp).
Where I'm at on the Anri/Horace part is I talked to Anri everywhere, including the catacombs both before and after killing Horace. Two of the guides said to tell her that I killed Horace and one said not to, so I told her. Then she appeared in the church below the darkmoon tomb and I talked to her. I left without killing the assassin in the corner. Now I'm supposed to kill Sullyvahn, then go talk to Yuria, right?
I don't remember. I remember I messed it up before with rosaria or by not getting all of the first 5 dark sigils before abyss watchers, or by curing dark sigils, or by killing the assassin in the church.
One of the guides says to tell her about Horace AFTER you kill Horace so that she goes and makes a grave for him. Another one says to kill Horace but don't tell her. Another one says that if you kill the assassin in the room with the rope bridge then you HAVE to tell her about Horace. It's all such bullshit.
