Getting into their aggro range. And yeah it's probably tough if you can't 1-2shot them with a mace. I'd just come back later if you're having trouble.
Yeah I think I am going to come back later.  That Dennis dude just showed up twice in a row.  He uses some white spell that kills me instantly.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah come back later when you're stronger and just crush that asshole. He's a little overpowered at this point.
I got a soul vessel
You can respec your character with that at the hut where you created your character.
oh I saw that you could do that but I didn't know you had to give her something for it.

Also, the chest I got it from in the basement of the house in majula has a message on the floor next to it that says 'illusory wall' that has a very high rating, but I can't find any illusory wall or mention of it in the wiki
Because there aren't any.
god damn.  Why the fuck did 500+ people rate the message then?  Are they all stupid?
No, they're all trolls. Stop trusting people on the internet. Except us!
I swear to fucking god I cannot understand what joy any person would get from 'trolling' unless they were a complete douchebag or they were a little kid.
Well there's your answer. You're blessed with the only Souls environment that's not a toxic hellhole: This thread. Don't venture into the wild!
One shall stand, one shall ball.
If the "Illusory wall" message is right up against the wall it's a fake, just to make things a bit clearer for you. A smart troll will leave some space between them and the wall!
I farmed the two guys sitting at the beginning of heide until they stopped respawning but that only gave me enough souls to level up twice.  This game must be incredibly huge if you get to level up more like you said, since the enemies stop respawning so fast.
The game does have twice as many bosses as DS1, but cheaper leveling is mostly a side effect of there being more stats.
Having a lot of fun trying all the different attacks with different weapons.  I really love the sprinting strong attack with halberd.  The timing for jump attack and guard break is really picky.  It was much more forgiving in DS1.

I'd really like to be able to use my soul arrow and great magic weapon, but I don't yet have a way to cast sorcery.  :(
The basic Sorcerer's Staff is sold by an NPC in the area after the first Heide boss. You can also find it behind a secret wall in the Giants Forest. Note that spell tools can be upgraded just like other weapons in DS2.
I'm so freakin pissed off at this game right now - you have no idea.  I keep getting farther and farther with tons of souls, then dying the stupidest deaths imaginable before I can recover them.  Three for three now.  Let's go for four!

It's just for laughs. Are you seriously getting pissed about hitting a wall once and hearing your weapons clang? Sheesh.
I don't get the hitting walls reference.

I finally killed that damn phantom in the giants area.
Man I thought taking on three of those club wielders at once was tough, but FIVE?  There's got to be a way to cheat here.
Where are you encountering five at once?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Soldier's rest most likely, you can very easily aggro many of them while leaving that bonfire.
Yeah, that's the place.  Turns out it's just a dead end anwyays, at least right now it is.

I killed two bosses in the heide area.  The big red knight killed me like 3 times, so I went in two-handed with winged spear +1, no shield and very light armor for speed.  Just time the rolling and he's really easy to avoid, which is good since I had to hit him so many times.
Armor is borderline useless in DS2. You're better off dressing light and having a good shield.

I have to have missed a bonfire in the wharf somewhere.  Is there not one in there at all?  Two hours and not one place to rest.

Fuck. Died carrying 17K+ souls and went back to the bonfire I started at two hours ago.  Then die in less than 5 minutes.  That seems to be my theme in DS2 so far.
