I noticed that the infested disgusting creature next to the chaos princess upgrades my pyromancy for a fee.  Is this the same guy that upgraded it before, only now he's awful to look at?
Dood Trigger™
They're only expensive if you want them earlier on in the game. And if you're upgrading like 100 items, I guess...

Those aren't the same characters, no
Demon Titanite is rare and can only be farmed off the respawning Titanite Demon in Izalith, but Twinkling can be bought infinitely from the Anor Londo giant blacksmith. You can also turn chunks into large shards but I wouldn't recommend it. You seem to be upgrading an unusually massive amount of weapons so that's why you "need" all those materials.

There's several Pyromancy trainers.

There's also a dupe glitch that lets you use boss souls infinitely. I was hesitant to mention it before considering you said you couldn't resist "ruining" your DeS playthrough by overduping, but you're so far along now in DS1 that it doesn't really matter anymore and it saves you a lot of grinding if you really want to upgrade everything.
Twinkling titanites can be farmed in the crystal cave after you've beaten the boss and unlocked the bonfire there. The clamshell monsters right there have a very high chance to drop twinkling titanite

I'd heard that the dup glitch existed, but I'm staying far away from it.  It really did take all the fun out of my DeS game.

I feel compelled to upgrade a variety of weapons, usually just one for each type, because they seem useless if not upgraded.  I've hardly done much armor upgrading, and not very much shield upgrading.  I have 6 or 7 +10 weapons at this point.  I have far more un-upgraded weapons than upgraded ones.
No reason to dupe anything in dark souls. Play ng+ and beyond for the extra boss weapons. Ng+ and beyond is when things get interesting
Also, what does the undead parish blacksmith modify?  I know he does +6, divine, raw, but then there's one other symbol there, a large white symbol, and I don't know what it does because there are no weapons displayed when I select it.
Dood Trigger™
He does +6, divine, occult and raw IIRC
Duping is only good in DeS because the colorless demon souls are ridiculously difficult to acquire
Oh yeah I did give him dark ember, so occult too.  But there's still one more thing he does and I don't know what it is.  It's a white symbol next to divine.
And the standard upgrade path
Do you mean the revert option? He can delevel your weapons to their previous upgrade path.
Dood Trigger™
That's probably the big divine upgrade, +6 Divine and such
That's got to be it
lol every time I hear 'divine' I think about Glen Milstead.

You need the Large Divine Ember for that one. Located at spoilery spoiler
Tomb of the Giants
He makes your weapons hideous yet fabulous

Tomb of the Giants

I got it already.
Opinions on magic vs enchanted, fire vs chaos?  Should I have one of each?
Chaos is strictly better if you always have 10 soft humanity, magic/enchanted depends on your INT
Dood Trigger™
Chaos requires having a bunch of Humanity on you, which isn't how things go usually...

I just settle at Fire+10 and don't worry about having to run for my souls every time I die
Thanks.  Also, I just acid surge and it made a big cloud of purple stuff but the cloud didn't seem to hurt anyone.  How does this thing work?
In Souls, acid only damages equipment durability.
Also golden Souls rule is to read item descriptions of all new stuff you get. Saves a lot of confusion and trouble.
So it lowers the effectiveness of an enemy's weapons?  I did read the descrip, don't get it.
