You're right, I did get it.  But I could have sworn that the text box that came up when I died said it would be taken away or returned or something.  I panicked when I realized that I no longer had the eye.  I thought the chance was lost forever.

I'm assuming that I need to take the prize back to the corpse of the lady.  No way I'm going back there now.  I really wish I could fast travel at this point.

You're not far off from fast travel (hey, another silly pun). But you gotta beat Anor Londo's boss for that...
One shall stand, one shall ball.

It says something like "returning to your world" when you kill Lautrec, you're actually invading Lautrec when you use that eye orb.
yeah, I used the eye multiple times to invade Lautrec.  I just freaked when I thought that the prize was taken from me AND the eye was gone, as if I wouldn't be able to try again.

Lautrec and his consorts are a real pain. Good job!

Yesterday I died 3 or 4 times to the Capra Demon. The rapier totally sucks in this game. :/
So does that boss fight!
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It's fine, just kill the dogs and you're good.

Dark Souls 2 update: Finally got Elana down. Got wrecked once because she brought in Velstadt like two seconds into the fight, the second try went better but still almost went all bad because Velstadt popped up near the end and is a fuckboy.

Then Sinh wrecked my shit until I remembered how to fight dragons in these games. It's still fuckin dumb though cause he can spent all goddamned day in the air like real shit. Kalameet but with flight is a dumb boss idea, I want to fight a boss not stare at it until it decides to stand still for two seconds.

Anyway finished Sunken King and moved on to Iron King which is a pretty cool looking zone, some of the enemies are kinda assholes (Iron Warriors), and I'm right before the Fume Knight. I'm, uh, not super looking forward to it. Running by the Iron Warriors outside his area is gonna get old.

The dogs were my problem last night lol. They're kinda hard to hit with a rapier in the chaos of that fight. But I managed to win, even if it took me longer than it ever should have.

Congrats on your progress in DaSII!
Fume Knight is one of my favorite Souls bosses. No matter how often you fight him, it never feels like you're just going through the motions due to his endless combo variations. Apparently he's also the bane of tank-style players because of his insane stamina damage, though, so good luck! Maybe try the Baneful Bird Ring? It once belonged to Fume Knight and increases stability. Oh, From.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I'll have to poke around some more to find that ring, I didn't actually go up after I activated the elevators so I'm sure I'm missing plenty. I did switch back to the Drangleic Shield and maxed it out to get better stability, but I've also sort of resigned myself to the fact that if I actually need it I'm probably fucked. Hoping it turns out to be an Artorias sort of deal where the shield is just there for the couple of attacks I can't figure out.

Oh, yeah, they are a bitch to hit with thrusts cause of their garbage hitboxes and all the jumping. Dogs are awful.

Fume Knight is an awesome boss. I like Sinh too, but as you said, he does spend a little too much time airborne. At least his attacks are 100% predictable unlike Elana and other duo/trio fights in these DLCs.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I honestly couldn't tell the difference between his fireball and the regular stream of fire when airborne except the latter always hit me.
Why am I able to warp from any bonfire, but I can only warp to some bonfires?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
No idea really. Used to be that you could only warp to bonfires with a firekeeper, I think. Then they updated it to let you warp to most bonfires but I guess maybe didn't want to clutter the menu too much.

Thanks.

You know, I still haven't cast one single miracle because they all require higher faith than I have.  I guess that gives me something to look forward to if I replay with another build.

And big hat just said that I'm too crappy of a sorcerer to even bother talking to.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I think you need 15 INT to get him to sell you stuff.

And yeah Miracles really need a more dedicated build to be useful in my experience.

The boss in anor londo was cake.  I went into the fight expecting to die as I didn't have much estus.  I just wanted to see what it would be like and then come back to fight them for real, but I ended up killing them.

With the ability to warp, I went back to the depths and farmed tons of humanity so I could max out, then went to the swamp and farmed shards.  Now I have a ton of powerful weapons.  This is a big turning point in the game for me I think.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It can be a very variable boss fight. Sometimes they sync up really well and you just don't get the chance to hit one of them, other times they don't and it's fairly easy. My first time phase one was nothing special, then Mega Ornstein jumped out of the map and forced a restart where they wrecked my shit. The difficulty can also depend on which on you kill first, Biggie is typically the easiest to deal with in either phase, but can be difficult to kill in phase one cause Smalls is always jumping around and sometimes stabbing through him like a jerk.

It's probably the best boss in the main game, and generally considered the toughest, so Fine Work, Skeleton!
O&S kicked my ass hard. But then again, my items and stats were complete shit. I went into the game pretty much blind.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
So what's with Fume Knight randomly backhanding you after usually safe attacks? Like it's hard enough to figure out when I can hit him as it is with out him bitchslapping me out of it two out of every ten times.

This fight feels kind of dumb tbh.

You pretty much wait and poke that guy. He has a follow up attack for everything, so you really just gotta find the right opportunity and know he's not gonna do a third or fourth slash when the combo appears to be over. Roll into his attacks (sword comes from left, dodge to the left).

If for some reason you find the buffed sword easier to dodge (as some people do), you can wear Velstadt's helm and he starts the fight buffed already. The way I did it last time was by running away from him in circles, unlocked, and waiting until he did the one overhead swing that had a decent window to counter (at SL1 though, so my weapons and defense sucked and this may not be the best strategy overall).

Both of Sinh's air flame attacks can be avoided by running straight at his direction as he starts the move IIRC. This is a fight where it helps to not be super far away from him when he's airborne.
I still have all the souls of all the bosses I've killed.  I learned from DeS that they can be useful, but so far the only time any of them seemed useful was when I was visiting the large smith and he was able to make one weapon using one of the souls but it was so huge and impractical that I passed.  Should I keep holding onto them?

You should hold on to them, they don't give that many souls anways.

Doesn't the ascension screen of the giant smith show you all the weapons you can make with your boss souls by default? So ideally you can go and check what seems good and worth holding onto.

I just stayed away and watched them for a minute or two to see what they do.  Then I killed the smaller one first.  I had no clue that his lightning would be passed to the other guy's hammer.  When they big guy did the big lightning blast the first time, it almost completely drained my health, so I was sure to avoid it after that.  But I just used a broadsword +10 on both of them.  That's the weapon I've been using for a long time now.  I've experimented a little with other weapons, but I seem to like small, fast, and agile weapons.  The big ones feel so clunky.  The spears are nice.  Still haven't even used a club.

Does it?  Maybe it does and I didn't notice, but I know for sure that there was only one that he could make for me at that time, even though I have a half dozen boss souls.
