When you have finished the game, you can select what level you want to play. That's the only level select I know about.

If you really need to cheat in Sonic 3, you suck. It is by far the easiest Sonic game of all.

Sonic 3 has a couple levels that are just a complete bitch, hardest in any sonic game that i can think of. That Casino place in sonic 3 just flat out SUCKS.

its odd if your playing sonic 3+knuckles, as the game gets really hard and then gets easy again.

I also don't think i've ever beat sonic 1... i should do that sometime.

If you need proof that I can (and have) beat Sonic 3, I can include it in the video tape I'm going to send Nate at some point in time. BTW, I'm trying to get this code to work because there is a secret level you can access with level select.

Actually, I've never beaten Sonic 3 on my own.

I always got stuck at world 5. My sister beat it though... world 6, in a word, is awesome.

Sonic 2 is easier than Sonic 3.

that code is a real bitch, that's for sure. when it first came out i can remember trying for hours and wondering if it was real or not. let me tell you what i do to help me get it quicker. i turn the controller sideways in my hand so my right thumb is on the up part of the dpad and my left thumb is on the down part. then when i hear the music start (with sonic flying forward) i input upupdowndownupupupupupupupupupupupup etc as fast as i can without muddling the commands between up and down (it doesn't matter how many ups you input for the final part of the code, because as soon as it 'hears' four, it will chime and then you're set, so just beat up as fast as you can after you hit the two downs). be sure to use small, gentle movements, as there's no time to lift your entire thumb off of the controller and slam it back down like you do playing sometimes. simply press down lightly, and if you have a good controller, it should go through. the timing also seems to be extremely sensitive for when to start, so you'll probably need to do it maybe a dozen times even with this technique to get it to go through. kind of reminds me of tbj timing.

hope that helps. and what level is it you're going to look at? the s&k levels aren't actually accessible from the level select unless you lock on s&k, fyi.

I was expecting an anwser from you Nate. Hmmm, turn the controller sideways eh?, wait... "Lock on"? I'm playing it on Sonic Mega Collection, not the Genesis version (My mom threw my Genesis away). BTW, where do you live? I've been waiting for your reply for at least 2 weeks now.

I should have written "If you really need to cheat TO BEAT Sonic 3, you suck." Since you already have beaten it and only cheat to check out something which I never have heard of becuase I never thought of cheating in Sonic 3, well, you don't suck.

Yeah, it's the blue spheres stage... That's what you got when you put a game that wasn't sonic 2 or 3 in with S&K and bressed A+B+C. It's cool, I beat a few of them but they're rough

You can open the Lockon versions of the games in mega collection. You have to play specific games a certain number of times, Gamefaqs has more info.

I'm still bummed that the Collection didn't include Sonic CD and Knuckles Chaotix :( I own the original but it would have just been too cool, considering Sonic DX has all the game gear games in it

No, it's not Blue Spheres, it's an emerald stage that, when you get the emerald, continues into the beginning of the game (Angel Island), BTW, I've unlocked all the unlockables already.

Edit: I just found out, though, that if you select special stage 1, it will open an emerald stage. But, as soon as it starts, the screen will brighten (As if you had hit a red sphere) and it will load another. It will keep loading until it has loaded 500 levels (I'm assuming this because Blue Spheres has 500 levels). I don't know what happens if you wait, but if you manage to actually hit a red sphere with the time given, it will go to the score count screen, then it will seemingly load Angel Island Zone: Act 1, but it loads Hydrocity instead! If you beat the level it will resume with the whirlpool taking you down to the next level, unfortunately, it only loads the corridor you start in, nothing else.
