yeah this show is pretty great, it's been surprising what they've been able to get away with on the disney channel. some really dark stuff

I remember the days when cartoons had to dance around the idea that like Megatron was absolutely going to kill every Autobot if his plan worked, pretty sure I've heard every way to threaten death without actually threatening death the english language has.

And here we have giant triangle in a bow tie and top hat straight up say he's gonna kill a kid for fun. My parents would have been so sick of that turning kids into corpses line if I had this show as a kid. Would dropped that as often as possible.

Have you seen Transformers Prime? Besides being a good candidate for this thread in general, it's a nicely distilled iteration of the franchise mythology. I.e., keeps Peter Cullen as Optimus, ditches Michael Bay.

Yeah, Bill was great. I'm a fan of trickster/chaos entities in general so I was on board with that guy being a recurring villain pretty much immediately.

Yeah I've watched it through a couple times, it's a solid Transformers show. I do wish they'd gotten further away from the more Michael Bay-ish character designs but that's sort of what Transformers look like now I guess. Hopefully kids think they're as cool as I thought the Gen 1 characters looked.

But kid me is not o nboard at all with this competent Bumblebee thing Bay started, Cliffjumper is the bad ass tiny car guy. Rip Cliff "The Rock" jumper. At least they fixed that no talking nonsense.

Oh no! I wouldn't wish Armada on anyone. I mean Transformers has always been kind of bad but that series of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron was real rough. Like I don't know how people who grew up with that could care at all about the franchise, maybe it's less obviously awful to a kid that hadn't seen Beast Wars.

Exactly. When I was a wee lad willing to ignore bad voice acting and animation it seemed okay. That said, even back then I knew something was deeply wrong with Energon upon seeing it.

Garry Chalk had a really good Optimus voice, it's really too bad he got left lumped in with all that nonsense. I mean I love Cullen and Welker but Chalk and David Kaye had a pretty good thing going, it's not their fault all of the scripts they got post Beast Wars were unintelligible.

So I actually watched Equestria Girls 3 for whatever reason (the reason that I had it downloaded and had watched everything else I had and figured I'd get around to watching the new season of ponies eventually and wanted to watch that first).

Not a good movie, but I kind of did enjoy human world Twilight being a total loner nerd (which, of course, lasted for all of two scene changes) and there was a kind of neat twist right before the climax, but the climax itself was so stupid and bordered on self-parody.

Also it started using the term "pony up" for the magical transformations of the human world character counterparts. Holy shit, I hated the use of that term so much.

In conclusion don't watch that movie because it's bad.

In entirely other news, Steven Universe is finally airing new episodes and they're calling it season 3 now rather than being the second half of season 2. I haven't seen the new episodes yet.
