red chamber dream
businesses love cheap immigrant labor lol, and trump does too
If it was really that simple, then why would he oppose stuff like the TPP?
red chamber dream
well, who's to say he does? all he's done so far is talk. let's see what he actually does
One shall stand, one shall ball.
All the wall talk is great for getting all the racists behind him, but anyone who knows anything could tell you even if the logistical nightmare of constructing it was cleared it wouldn't really do anything.

Historically speaking, unreasonably large walls haven't proven terribly effective. If he actually wanted to cut off his own giant cheap labor supply he'd actually reform immigration policy.
red chamber dream
yeah it would be a complete waste of ... everything - time, effort, money, resources, the public's good will ...
red chamber dream
i mean not that he ever had any
Trump strikes me as a bit of a Molyneux
red chamber dream
lol
red chamber dream
they are both filled with a lot of hot air, that's for sure
I'm no expert on the US but I imagine he's just popping off with a load of shit he doesn't actually realise he can't do
people are acting like POTUS is a monarch
red chamber dream
that seems to be the general assumption, but he also talks about doing some realistic things, and he's appointing lunatics to high positions, and if he gets the republicans on his side he could do a lot of damage
yeah that last point is the key I think
red chamber dream
the thing is, it's almost impossible to do anything significant in four years, and presumably he won't be reelected, and all that would be immediately undone

that's sort of the safety measure we have i guess, idk
there have got to be some pubs rolling their eyes
red chamber dream
it seems like most of them are against him, but who knows, they're mostly insane too

Peter or Stefan?

You assume Republicans aren't all dangerously stupid people. It's an easy mistake, even Obama didn't realize until it was too late.
Even most Trump voters hate most Republicans.
Quote from arkarian:
wait, didn't opium say she voted for trump??

No. I reluctantly voted for what I considered to be the lesser of two evils.  Too afraid of Trump's science-denial, out-of-touchness, and narcissistic personality to vote for him.  I also think he's a complete liar.  Not saying that isn't uncommon in politics, but he takes the cake.
red chamber dream
ah ok yeah, agreed
red chamber dream
at least he lost our state, we did our job
I'm pretty confused about it all right now.  Part of me is alarmed while the other part of me is feeling like everything will be fine.  As soon as I feel OK, the alarmist part of me tells me I'm in denial like most of Europe was when Hitler took power. Then I talk myself out of it.  Repeat.
red chamber dream
eh i figure i'll just chill until/unless something actually happens

if it's just politics as usual but more nasty, that's fine with me
That would be fine with me too.  I guess the tipping point would be if The Constitution is shat upon in a major way.  It protects us, but it's only a piece of paper.  I just hope if that happens then it won't be too late.
