Here's a true story.  When I worked at a large casino/resort in las vegas, every crime that was committed on property was on camera because every square inch of the place was on camera. Whether it was a theft, or writing a bad check, or an assault, it was all on camera.  Every week I was handed a report by security which showed the face of every perp from that week.  The report usually contained several dozen crimes, and more than 95% of the crimes were perpetrated by african-americans, despite the fact that they composed of less than 5% of our customer base. The ratio was so pronounced that security immediately went into action any time a black person entered the property.  Everyone understood why, even the black security officers understood this. Is that racist?  No, numbers are numbers, they are not racist.  I believe it was not a race issue, but a cultural one.  In any case, blacks committed nearly every crime that occurred there, and that's not just true on the LV strip, it's indicative of the whole country.  Acknowledging these numbers does not make you a racist.  You don't have to feel guilty about admitting that this is the truth, nor should you be intimidated by anyone who accuses you of racism for acknowledging it.  Those accusations are what prevent the conversation from being had, and the problem persists.  Black people aren't being shot by the police for simply being black.  I'm sure that has happened before, but it's not the reality of why we constantly see black people being arrested.  Wake up.  We have a real problem.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I'll credit the cops in the video though for showing enough restraint to use a taser instead of shooting him in the head.

i won't, still a fucking thug
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Well sure but at least it wasn't murder!
red chamber dream
and no shit black people commit more crimes - but it's not like that isn't the fault of the government lol
red chamber dream
it also has nothing to do with a cop shooting an unarmed man because he's black, which still happens every day

So it's totally cool then to stop a black man on the street, shove him forcefully against the wall face first, forearm to neck and search him, all the while shouting like a maniac about hands in the air, don't resist, don't talk? Cause cops literally did shit like that in New York under the Stop and risk policy. The majority of those stops came up empty. While the white people they stopped were more likely to yield results. Knowing statistics are one thing, but it doesn't excuse what becomes racial profiling. Stats may show a black man is more likely to commit a crime but interacting with them as thought they already have or most definitely will doesn't do anything to prevent crime or garner trust with black communities. And that fear and distrust is a huge issue for police in those areas, it makes their jobs harder and more dangerous. If they want to change that they might want to start actually helping people instead of intimidating them into compliance.

Like I said, the problem is cultural.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Go on.
Do you want a dictionary?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Well what part of the culture? Whose culture? Elaborate on the point.
red chamber dream

All behavior comes from nature or nurture.  If it were nature, we would see the same stats in every part of the world where black people lived.  But we don't. It's nurture.  It is a cultural problem in america that has many many factors.  Poverty, poor role models - the list is huge.
red chamber dream
but i don't think that's a problem with black culture, it's a problem with the government and the whole system
red chamber dream
yeah ok sounds like we agree on that at least

i'm just having trouble making the connection to "cops should be able to do whatever they want"
red chamber dream
i still like my idea of mandatory birth control though
red chamber dream
that would solve sooooooooooooooooooooooooo many problems
red chamber dream
like, all of them maybe
red chamber dream
every citizen must take birth control unless they and their partner can afford kids, adoption is illegal

Cops have rules.  I'm just talking about when you are interacting with a police officer, there are basic instructions to follow.  It's not a violation of your rights to be asked for ID.  It's not unreasonable to be asked to step out of your vehicle.  They don't need to stop and explain their logic or their training to you or anyone else.  If misconduct occurs, they do face consequences.  But it's not misconduct for them to ask you for id or tell you to get out of your car or pull their guns when you make it clear that you aren't going to do what they say.
