yeah so did mine, it's just weird because they could easily have done much better if my mom had chosen to work

i'm not saying it's a bad or good thing she didn't because i really don't know

My mom couldn't work for legal reasons. The residential visas we had before our green cards only let my dad be employed.

I wanted to be rich for a long time too but at some point it became extremely clear that that wasn't even a remote possibility. I mean it's be cool to have a sweet house and a sweet car like they all had but good god if I had to be surrounded by insufferable douchebags once I got there it's probably better that I'll never have that.

I kind of had the opposite of you. My family moved all over the place in Ukraine and then moved once here too. I didn't make any really close friends until middle school thanks to that.

it's all relative now though, in your twenties it can get kind of weird
