Alcohol is disgusting. I hate it, and I hate drunk people. This is why I tend to avoid bars. I can't stand the way it makes people act like retards. I don't understand why people aren't totally embarrassed from being in public in such a sorry state.
I spose if you're inherently a dick you'll be a drunk dick but if your a nice person then you'll just be more comedic and laughably charming or something.
That's the thing. It makes you not care. Giving in makes you not care about how you appear giving into your own idiocy. It's nice.
Yeah I understand the capacity to not care while one is intoxicated, but what about later on when they sober up? Why do they not recall their behavior and feel humiliated?
Alcohol is fun. It makes me able to talk to people I haven't already known for a long time, and fills me with a general feeling of happiness and giddiness, which can be pretty nice.
Alcohol is also absolutely horrible, of course. But not for me.
Quote from Idkbutlike2:
Well, that's only because alcohol is part of cuisine. Those drugs aren't.
I would say it is much more due to alcohol being a part of our culture for thousands of years, while those drugs have not. It's a tired saying that alcohol would almost definitely be illegal if it was discovered today, but it's true non the less.
What's worse in terms of behavior, though, drunks or people who get high on hard drugs like coke or meth?
Alcohol - hands down. I should know - I have done every drug out there, many to excess, and have spent a lot of time around others who do the same. There is no other drug out there that intoxicates to the level that alcohol does. Blackouts? Come on. There's also something particularly evil about alcohol's effect in that it somehow makes the user not realize that they are intoxicated. They actually think they can drive, or otherwise pass for sober when they can hardly stand up! You don't see that with other drugs. Alcohol is the nastiest thing out there.
um ... alcohol is not nastier than, say, dope, no matter how you put it.
I don't know, I think there is a case to be made that it's worse just based on availability and acceptability. The negative aspects are downplayed much more heavily than with other drugs.
