Yosh: yeah, switching keyboards would definitely do it, but I don't have any lying around that work any better than this one-- I only buy cheap keyboards (fifteen bucks, tops), so it'd normally be very appropriate to just buy another one now. However, since I'll be getting a laptop soon and won't really use this comp much, it's a waste imo. I can deal with the screwy keys for a while.
Jagger: yeah, I've messed with everything I can think of. Gonna just have to deal with this one too until I get the time to investigate more.
Yeah, same thing happened to me, too, though I think I accidentally "deleted" it when cleaning up and overhauling my system and interface about a year ago. Of course, being a Microsoft product, it's never completely gone, so just go to Start>Run and type "mspaint" to open it. If that doesn't work, there's most likely no easy solution short of reinstalling doze.
Have you actually used Linux, or are you just saying that? You don't seem like the Linux type. Anyway, I won't be using either very much very soon; I'm graduating to OS X in a few months.

Also in regards to computer retardation, Paint has mysteriously disappeared. This is a complete and total outrage.

I'd recommend reinstalling Windows. Or getting Linux.
