Yeah but this is an MMO, just by playing it you are calling your definition of fun into serious question.

There's a fine line between a weird opinion and bad judgment.

so since it doesn't have "Kill X of Y" or just "Go here and kill this dude" it's bad? Hell even Skyrim's quests were basic by comparison. Even the most complex Skyrim quests boil down to speaking to people, sneaking or brute forcing an assassination, MAYBE a riddle, and that's it.

compare any quest in an RPG released in the last year to this: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Desert_Treasure and that's not even hard compared to some of the legendary quests released in the last three years.
it just won't compare. There's a ton of story, puzzle, and critical thinking required (unless you're using a walkthrough of course).

None of the questing justifies just how shitty the grinding is in runescape, but saying the quests are bad too is just silly.

That's the thing. Some of them get so elaborate and convoluted that they kill your motivation to complete them. You'll eventually get to the point where it's hard to find any fun in the game because A: Your current quests are a pain in the ass, B: Potentially more entertaining quests are locked out thanks to skill and item requirements, and C: You have little more to do than to try and grind up skills and buy more items in hopes of unlocking more quests. That's basically why I quit RuneScape. I got tired of grinding and didn't feel like finishing up any major quests that I started because they were dumb and boring.

The last month or so of my membership was mostly spent grinding and playing Pest Control repeatedly in hopes of getting enough money to afford some Dragon equipment. I don't think I ever bought a single piece of Dragon equipment in the end. The damn things are just too expensive and not worth the grinding.

Nigga you were making money all sorts of wrong if you were doing it via pest control. Even just grinding iron ore or lobbies was more profitable.

Slayer was, and still is, the most profitable skill in the entire game. So many people passed up on it though because it was a weird skill, but those of us that did it were severely rewarded. My first ten mil I got was just from getting slayer come 40-60 in a week. Granted you needed to get lucky, but you were always going different places and it made combat fun.

Well, sorry for having a life. How unfortunate of me.
Also, I don't even fucking remember what the hell Slayer is. Is that the one where you have to kill monsters with life earmuffs and shit?

having a life means you can't put enough critical thinking into a quest in a video game?

I mean yeah I got stuck on some parts too but if I couldn't figure it out I just looked up that section of a guyde

I did look up stuff on guides when I got stuck, lol. I did loads of quests. It's just that I got ridiculously bored after a while mostly because of the grinding.

well I mean yeah, all games get old after awhile. Doesn't mean the game is bad, just means you get the enjoyment out of it that you could. Only the most hardcore autist plays Runescape every week for many many years. Or people that run bots. But I guess that goes hand in hand.

I wish we could go back to when the game had SOME updates but not all of them.  Like, I would set my personal golden age to the time just before December '07 when they started trying to regulate player trade.

btw so I mentioned to my girlfriend about making this thread just because I don't know why and mentioned that it was kinda funny that someone (you) posted saying they wish they would make a version of runescape like this, and her reply was "Well I guess that person was like... living under a shell or whatever its called"

She didn't know your name was Turtle

it was punny
I like turtles.
I seem to lend myself to that sort of joke more than you'd think...
