well...the only thing i can think of is that when i restored from the backup when i was doing this, the backup hadn't been updated. i guess i shouldn't count on copies of the table files being up-to-date even though they were just made from the master files. i DID take down the database to avoid this, but iirc the backup was owned by root, so that's possibly what could have happened (mysql was unable to update the files and didn't tell me about it). sorry, people. hopefully it wasn't anything too important, and i'll consider this a lesson learned. the deadbeat users had their revenge, i guess.

So if I'm getting this straight - yeah, new person here, doi - do I have to post a minimum of once every three months, or if I never post after this, is my account still cool?

I always make posts, but I rarely hit the 'Submit' button. I dunno why.

If you're registered for 3 months and your post count is 0.  If it were the case of not making a post for 3 months I'd have been nuked 4 times over by now.  :P

Nah, Hejira, you'll be fine, unless we get thousands of new members very soon. Deleting an account only happens if you haven't posted at all. If we get a lot of members though, accounts will be deleted that haven't posted in a certain amount of time (three months, maybe).

Perhaps if they have less than 10/20 posts. I often disappear for that sort of period of time, and I certainly can't imagine what would happen if Sess got pruned...

Well, I'm sure that the admins will know about users who have large amounts of posts and they will not prune them.

There are 324 users with 5 or fewer posts, of which 31 with 0 posts and 107 with 1 post.

By the way, what will happen to a post if its poster is pruned?

The thirty-one with zero posts will probably be pruned sooner or later, but the others with one or more will not be. One post is one post. Until this forum gets much larger, only the users with no posts and no contribution to the forums will be pruned.

As to answer your question, I would assume the post would get deleted too. I'm not sure though. Nate?

Erm... yeah. I pruned. Keep in mind that this is still only for users who have never posted ever. If you have posted even once, you will never be pruned. If that ever changes, it'll be a big announcement that'll be clear to see for all, but I don't see that changing.

before it was almost 1000 ... like 993 or something. looks like it's 981 now. could still hit 1k before the end of the year, but i doubt it.

trh is of course referring to the total number of users who have ever registered (counting ones that have been pruned).

It says we've had 25 so far this month...I think that 2 or 3 a week is pretty reasonable till the end of the year.
