Starting now, I'm gonna start deleting user names that have been registered for at least 3 months but have 0 posts racked up. It's just a little way of keeping down the clutter of that there member list. If you get your name deleted and suddenly decide you want to start posting here, no bother; just make your name again and you'll have the same number of posts as before!

Don't ask me why I'm doing this. Just know it must be done.

I wish other forums would follow suit, it'd free up space and decrease clutter.  Some of the larger forums would probably trim up to a thousand or more members.  I mean, it's no loss if they haven't posted.  Just to be nice you could probably send an email that says, "You're account is being deleted, you'll have to reregister if you want to come back," but you don't have to be nice.

At any rate, I applaud your pruning.

The largest Swedish forum (Pcgamer, also phpBB (if thats its name)) has crashed twice (or thrice), and people blaim all the low posters. Theres currently  2493 out of 8201 zero posters, 1160 out of 8201 1 posters and 620 out of 8201 2 posters.. thats 4273 out of 8201, 52.1%, of unnecessary accounts! I think they're right.. So keep this forum clean out of zero posters!

If we get up to those size numbers, I'll expand the pruning parameters to include people who haven't posted for X ammount of time, and whatever else I need to do to trim the numbers.

What/who are hidden users. And don't give me any sarcastic remarks. I know people who will come up with some.  8)

Hidden users are users that checked off the "make me hidden" option. It just means that you can't see their name when they're online (unless you're an admin or possibly a mod).

I don't know about mods here, but at other forums mods can't see who the invisible users are.

deleted about 70 users who have never logged in. i had to do this crazy manual repair of the database due to radix not recovering the table that maps the users to their groups (apparently the phpbb authors were inspired by unix in that every user belongs to a group consisting of only that user right after they register). radix did not know this, and so i had to go in and add groups for the users who registered between 1 may (the last backup of the forum before the marie incident) and 1 july (when the forum was deleted) and associate those groups with the groupless users. the reason i had to do this was that when phpbb tried to delete the deadbeat users, it failed because some of the groups associated with the deadbeat users didn't exist.

anyway, i registered a test user and deleted him, and it seemed to go fine, so hopefully this is the end of the marie-related problems.
