I made a custom sprite sheet for Phantoon. I made these sprites entirely from scratch, except the Super Metroid one at the bottom. (:P)

Tell me what you guys think. I also made a Draygon, but it doesn't have a sprite sheet.

EDIT: Here's an animation for it:

Thread title:
Annoying
I think it's pretty cool. With a little tweaking, it almost looks like it was actually put in the origonal game. You should put the NES Draygon into a sheet and put it up here.

Thanks.

What sort of tweaking did you have in mind?

And I also have Crocomire. :P

But for Draygon...it'd be harder to animate him. But I suppose I could try.

EDIT: Rounded the head a bit, made it look a tad more like the original.
Yo.
Methinks it should be a tiny bit larger (just to seem more intimidating, but only a tiny bit, to fit the classical renditions of the bosses,) and darker colors.

Also, I know this is quite nitpicky, but that'd be an invalid sprite on NES Hardware. Your Phantoon has five colors, while sprites are limited to only four (color 1 - usually black, color 2, color 3, color 4, and transparent.) It'd work, though, if'n you made Phantoon's body and eye separate... Just like he is on Super Metroid.
I think it could use a bit more color.  I also think for it to be copyrighted, you have to use your real name, unless you've registered "Ultimate Ridley" with the copyright office (assuming you live in the U.S., I'm not sure about other countries).
Yo.
More color is possible, of course; I'm just saying you'd need to make more parts for Phantoom for it to look like it would be supported by NES Hardware.

As for parts, maybe I should clarify. What I mean is, when you make different parts of Phantoom, you should arrange the spritesheet something like this:

-----------------------------------------------
|Different frames of the Body go in this row    |
|Different frames of the Eye go in this row      |
|Fireball Frames row                                    |
|                            ----------------          |
|<------------>        |Box here shows| Other |
|Disclaimer here        |how Phantoom's| crap  |
|<------------>        |put together    | here  |
-----------------------------------------------

Yeah, something like that. It'd be politically correct, in terms of NES Spriting. Just so you'd know.

I wasn't talking to you.

I'm not sure if you're talking about copyright or the number of colors.

Yo.

Actually, I meant neither. I was referring to how spritesheets are done when single enemies have multiple parts to them, like the sprite of a person with a gun and the muzzle flash of his gun firing, or whatnot. Normally, you split the different sprites apart so the person who uses the sheet can tell that it's not supposed to be combined in the first place, I.E. in terms of the console it was normally built to be used on.

1. What KMan just said.
2. Not a grammatical error.
3. Are you suuuuuuuure Phantoom can't be spelled with either an N or an M? I need proof. I've never seen evidence I can't say Phantoom instead of Phantoon.

EDIT: Aw, damn. I'm glad you missed all the glaring I did in the "What do you want in Metroid 5?" thread, which is, sadly enough (to me at least, 'cuz I liked that thread,) locked, KMan.

EDIT 2: Fix'd that edit. Not gonna bump, or hijack this thread any longer. Prove it to me over PMs, G_Met!

1. And what I just fixed. :|
2. It doesn't have to be.
3. I'm pretty sure, everyone I know has spelled it that way before now.
4. Not that it matters, but you do know that he can un-lock the thread to post in it, right?  I'm not sure, but Mods and Admins might be able to post in a thread even if it's locked.

Wow, never thought I'd get this many replies.

I've been fixing up on separating the eyes and such. Might work on Draygon or Crocomire tomorrow.

Other than more color and size, I think you should give the tentacles some movement. ->->-> for the effort.
Yo.
Oh, yeah. I give it ->->->!, the extra .5 just for the retro effect you're trying for. LONG LIVE THE RETROS!

Just try to darken it a bit...phantoon is darker, and a darker sprite would be cooler
i hope you'll soon post crocomire's sprite too

you know, sprites in the original Metroid didn't have black outlines. Giving one to Phantoon isn't bad, but it seems out-of-place.
Yo.

Very true. That was mostly because Metroid had no backgrounds to speak of.

No, it was mostly because sprites only had three colors in a palette.

It's a dark brown.

And I'll try Crocomire.
I like the phantoon sprite sheet, although the long tentacles look too fat

Off topic: Oh lol, zhs2 successfully bumped a locked topic.

I tried Crocomire, and I couldn't edit it well.

But here is the original:

EDIT: Check the sheet now, I've updated it, separated the eyes from the body, and added a few tentacle frames. Any better?
