Anyone who doesn't love this game is completely crazy(my own mom sucks and she loves it too!) and no with two people to a cart, things couldn't be any crazier.

I want to know what you think about Mario Kart, Double Dash! which in my opinion, is one of the greatest racing games ever made for the Gamecube.
Thread title:
I have Mario Kart: Double Dash, and can't wait to get some games going via Warppipe once i get my router set up.

The overall gameplay of single player was short, although i've only dabbled a little bit into the time trials. I think the multiplayer is where it's at ;)

Yeah, the single player kinda sucks, unless you want to do all of the tracks by yourself. I played with my brother since he was home from college and we were getting some ownage on the tracks with the co-op. To bad mine was only a rental... It's now on the top of my list of things to get for my Gamecube along with the GB Player.
I love Double Dash, but my main complaint is the game is becoming too dependent on items.. anyone else find it annoying that a last-place rider can screw up the race for the front-runners with constant blue shells?  But other than that, the courses are great, and there's some solid battle courses.

I have high hopes for the Warp Pipe program.. if it is able to support a large multi-player, I'll play if more people are needed... been a Mario Kart junkie for over a decade.  :)

I just got Double Dash today. Oh boy, what fun! Definately a worthy sequal to Mario Kart 64.

Of course, 150cc is becoming insanely frustrating, but it's all part of the fun. Hooray for being blue shelled seconds from the finish line!

I think that the items are what make the game so freakin' chaotic!!  Nothin' like a good red shell or two right in your opponents face or a lightning bolt to shake up the game for whoever's first in line.  But you know what item really ticks me off?  That giant shell that bowser allways uses. It's like:

Your driving along, about to win, then a giant shell comes out of nowhere and bowls you over. You may have horrible luck and then get hit by another one.
You then loose around five spots AND that gold cup that was waiting for you at the finish line. DAMN YOU SECOND PLACE TROPHY!!!!

... yeah, it's like that.

Of course, whenever YOU use the spiked shell, it always bounces off a wall and pummels you yourself, unless you shoot it backwards.
I think the items are great too, it's what makes Mario Kart what it is, but there should be some parity with the distribution of them.. when first place only gets banana peels and fake item boxes and second place gets constant red shells, it kinda makes me not want to be in first place until the end of the final lap.

Oh well, I still love the game, and I'll probably be doing Bowser Castle time trials until I start wearing diapers again.
I remeber the N64 Mario Cart's AI cheated.  Hopefully this won't be so on the GameCube.

What I really remember is how badly the AI cheated in Mario Kart for the SNES. You simply could not shake them, at all. Even if you mushroomed five times and used a lightning, the instant you hit a banana peel, you'd get passed by like 2 or 3 racers.

Are you kidding? Banana peels and fake boxes are exactly what you want to have in first place. How else are you going to defend yourself from the barage of red shells coming your way?
The item box hardly ever seems to work; but banana peels do.  I'd rather be given red shells (or green ones), which are also capable of defending oncoming shells.

Only shells seem to work on oncoming shells. I've tried using Yoshi's egg or one of Mrio or Luigi's fire attacks, but they seriously never work and never hit anyone behind them.

Plus, with the item boxes: try and place them around the real boxes, and someone will eventually hit it.  Just make sure its not you hitting you're own fake box.

Bananas work fine for me, for defense, although shells work bette for sure.

My combo of choice is Baby Bowser and Paratroopa. Para's special is awesome for defense, and it's very common too.
Before unlocking the final 2 characters, my favorite combo was Toad and Toadette, or whatever her name is.  I really love speed bursts, and they get em in spades.

I'm currently killing myself on All Cup 150cc. I've managed second place twice now. That gold is getting closer...
I managed to get the gold in every All Cup the first time through , but the 150 circuit provided plenty Kart-drama.  The key is, of course, building a big lead with the earlier easy races, so you can afford to get bombed at the end of some of the harder races.

The easier tracks aren't always at the beginning though. All Cup distributes them randomly, except for the first and last tracks.

I got gold though! Next up, mirror mode. Yay.
Hmm, that's true, looks like I actually benefitted from the game's randomness this time.  :)    I got a ton of the easier courses towards the beginning (Peach Beach, Mushroom Bridge, etc), so my normal screwups in Waluigi Stadium and Rainbow Road didn't derail me.

Mirror Mode was surprisingly pretty easy, the karts seem to run at around 100cc speeds, but the bombardment of items is heavier than ever (or at least on par with 150cc).
My combo's gonna be Bowser and DK. Gotta love that giant shell.

Well, I done and earned everything. Sort of a shame that it didn't take very long, but hey, it's Mario Kart. I got more unlockables than I expected.

I must say, this game's Rainbow Road is my favorite yet. It's jaw-droppingly beautiful and probably my favorite track. Another gem, although an odd one, is Baby Park. It's so simple, and yet oddly fun, not to mention chaotic.
yeh i unlocked everything in less than two days...i was kinda disappointed, but its still a phat game i must say. boo and baby luigi is the team, but was baby luigi ever in another game? i mean sure, i dont remeber what happened yesterday, but still i seriously dont remember him in anything else.
yoshis island. you have to rescue him.

Paratroopa and Peach. Don't laugh, Peach's special is simply awsome. It doesn't come up too much unless you're in fifth or so, so when I'm ahead (or I get my hearts) I switch to Paratroopa for shells OF DEATH! DEATH!!!!!!

Probably the first time I've ever turned down Yoshi. Too bad his special blows. Well, I end up with the Yoshi car, tho...

hehheh... guess who got Mariokart for Christmas. No more rentals for me!

I have so many combos, its hard for me to tell which one i like best.

Baby Mario and Paratroopa are really fun, and i usually go for them for the specials. That chain chomp is so much fun to use, but you have to be in like last place to actually get it.

Plus, getting three shells at a time is sooo sweet. Those heat-seeking missiles and the green defenders rock!
