Alright, the newly instituted rules state that my sig is 25 pixels too ltall, now, i could resize it.  Which doesn't look to bad...

However, I thought to myself, why would I do that, if someone else could possibly make it look better.

So, The dimensions are set.
500 x 150 pixels  No larger, can be smaller I suppose.

I would love to keep all of the metroid forms in it, (they can be found here: http://www.classicgaming.com/mdb/m2/m2art_metroids.jpg ).

And I would prefer "Syl" is retained in it, in some form, tis 3 simple letters so i doubt it would be difficult.

I would also love if someone could donate the tiny bit of bandwith needed to host my new sig once its been created.

Hey.  I've never been seen on these boards, as I'm always just an observer (been visiting since January though), but since you're in a bind, I thought I'd register and help you out, if you still need help.
Do you know what picture was used for the background?  If I had that, I could just re-size that, and put the metroids (with the same size as they are now) back in.  That way, no one would really notice that it was smaller.  I already tried re-sizing the sig, and just shrinking the height does make them kinda small/squat.  If you shrink the whole sig in proportion, then it's not so bad, but it's a bit more pixelated.
Anyways, let me know if you have the background, or if you still want help.  I'll see what I can do.

Edit: I may have found a nifty background to use, maybe with a space theme.  I'll do it up anyways and see if you like it.

Ok.  Here's a sample.  If you don't like the background, it's very easy to change.  I just need to find the right kind.  This picture is 474x150.

I can't host the file for you, but I can create it.  If you have a better picture (or part of a picture) in mind for the background, PM me or write me here and we'll see what I can do.  Also, if you want the Photoshop file so you can change the background on a whim (or move the metroids around), let me know, and I'll send it to you (or put it up on my webspace or FTP for easy access)

If you want anything about it changed, I'd be happy to do it.

My names a little hard to read though.  (I always imagine the Y curling under or at least VERY close to the S)
I'm personally not that big of a fan of red, however...
I *LOVE* the design and placement of the metroids...

Perhaps change the text type, and then try a few other colors (if they aren't too much of a hassle)

Kal:  Thats very cool, and thanks for registering, I sure hope we'll see more of your posts around here.  I don't have the original background, simply because i didn't make the sig myself.  (And the guy who made it seems to have randomly dissapeared over there.)

However, I think i prefer the design that Maynards Tool posted better, mainly because its a little bit more unique.

That's not a problem. If you want it to be the original colors, I can do it like that, or any color scheme you'd like. I'll try a few different fonts as well, since I have a large collection, I'm sure there's a Y that curls in one of them, if not, I can make it.

heh, thanks, nah, not what i wanted.

hm.. i don't know how hard this is to do, but i realized that against a lighter background, you can easily see an outline on it, (likewise, how on my old sig, the white was very obvious against the black background)

how difficult would it be to remove that black outline, im sure its a product of Anti-Aliasing or something, but it is kinda ugly and distracting.

that said, i absolutely dig the sig in every way.

I can try to, it's actually the matting. Since this forum jumps between colors on posts, it makes it more difficult to blend in. I'll try it though, and have it up in a second.
