Are the labels supposed to be the same for each direction? Also, is this labeling intelligence as being equal to comedy, or are they either-or, compared to unfunnyness and stupididty respectively?
yes, supposed to be the same, but on second thought, I should have made one going the opposite direction. And yes, intelligence just means intelligence, but can mean intelligent humor. Because if it decreases to something so stupid it comes out on the other side of the blue, it is indeed hilarious.
Also, not everything is comedy to everybody. Some people could be relatively unfazed by a gag (either through ignorance or indifference,) while others aren't. The indifferent people can be led to believe nothing is ever funny, thus stating that everything they hear stays in the red zone - and therefore the Laws of Circular Comedy escape them.
Also... This may be off-par to the rest of the discussion, but couldn't it also be "The Laws of Linear Comedy?" Some things never become funny again.
You can't tell a joke and not be funny. It's the level of funniness that makes it a joke. Example: UNFUNNY So this guy goes into a bar, and orders a drink. The bartender says, "Do you want fries with that?"
See, the more intelligent you are, the more you don't think that's funny.
Example: FUNNY "Hi, I couldn't help but notice the book you're reading." "Yeah, it's about sexual attractiveness. Did you know that American Indian and Polish people are the best lovers? By the way, my name's Jill. What's yours?" "Flying Cloud Kowalski. Nice to meet you."
Now here, your level of intelligence only decides whether or not it's funny to you, because if you're not knowledgeable in that area, you don't know that Flying Cloud Kowalski is an American Indian/Polish name. I'm not sure what point I'm trying to make here, but whatever.
That's not a circle, it has to be one continuous line!!!
See, the more intelligent you are, the more you don't think that's funny.
I'm scared. :|
Really, though, I think this graph would be better as a sinusoid than a circle or line. Or something. Why can I not even remember my own justification for this? >_>
Oh I see, so the vertical axis is actually the measurement of intelligence, and the horizontal axis that hadn't been indicated is the measure of funniness, right? If that's the case...then I disagree. I feel it's more of a hyperbolic graph.
Nope, just going counterclockwise is getting funnier or more intelligent, and clockwise is getting dumber/less intelligent. Think monty python going past the red and back into the top of the blue. Oh, and might I point out that the bottom is neutral territory. The graph needs some work.
