What's the graphic type that tickles your fancy?
Mine is FPS-Like graphics(Halo,Timesplitters 2,etc..)
As you know, XIII is an FPS but in Cel-shaded. This,in my opinion, makes the game look like it's outdated. This also goes for WW. Nothing personal,I just don't like the way it's set up,makes it look like you put no effort into it.
Thread title:
how do i like my graphics?

I like whatever graphics allow for the best atmosphere of the game.
I like Sprites in a 3D world (Paper Mario).  I also like Dark robotic stuff (Custom Robo).  I also mind you like pure sprites (SMB3).
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Games with graphics that pay attention to the small details (Metroid Prime is a great example of this).
It depends on multiple things

1. the console/handheld
2. The Genre
3. The game style

a cartoony joke parody game (Conker's bad fur day springs to mind) is best as cartoon or possibly Anime.

Racers seem to be best realistic except when it involves cartoon characters (Mario Kart, F-Zero, Diddy Kong Racing)

FPS is a tricky one. It depends on the style. If it's a realistic type game then obviously realistic graphics, however this may change if its cartoony (Ken's Labrynth) or whatever it may be.

In the case of Cel Shading I must confess 'I don't like it'. I'm not just biased because it's new. It's good for nintendo to start messing with new ideas, but I just don't like Cel Shading, not in Wind Waker, not in XIII not in anything.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Hand-drawn/sprites.  Cause I can't draw and polygons feel 'fake' to me.
Viking
Precursor
Cel-shading works, sometimes.

Viewtiful Joe and XIII wouldn't be the same without it, but WW could've used it better.

But I'll have to say that pixels are my real turn-on. Especially in some shmups, where they're almost erotic (Perfect. Cherry. Blossom.).

You haven't acually played Wind Waker, have you? It's one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen. Not because it's cel-shaded, but because of the entire artistic style of the game. It's amazing to see in action.

I really don't know if I even have a favorite type of graphics... Jet Set Radio Future does it for me, actually. But so does F-Zero... I guess there's one thing I like. When designers aren't afraid to use color. Like in the MegaMan X games. I loved those, too. Gotta love a game that can have robots that're purple, yellow and green (all on one robot) and still not look redicilous. F-Zero GX uses a lot of saturated colors as well, without making it look like a comic book. I love that. Come to think of it... Even Halo has a lot of saturation and shiny stuff. And Halo looks awesome as well.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I like the graphics to fit the games atmosphere, a dark game should have more realistic graphics and darkerr colors, the light hearted type games do better with cel-shading or bright colors, then there arejust times when the graphic stlye just fits the game for some odd reason like in Viewtiful Joe, it really just depends on the game for me.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.

Aren't F-Zero games supposed to look like comic books?

And I also love Halo's graphics.  Halo 2's graphics make me cream my pants every time I see them. Wink
I don't care what the style of graphics is, as long as they look good. And I'm using the word "good" pretty loosely here. It takes a long time for graphics to look primitive to me, right now I'm at the NES threshold, which means that only games before NES look bad immediately. The real issue is if they use the technology well, which is why I'd put Ocarina of Time ahead of several current console games for graphics.

Really, graphics are probably the least important thing for me to enjoy a game.
i like my graphics halo style....ive also seen some pictures of halo 2 .......mmmmmmmmm      im ok with cel-shaded but so far ive only liked it in X111.

I like sprites the most.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
I guess I should also say that I love sprites.  They have a certain personality to them that polygons just can't mimic.

I mean, just look at my avatar[s]!  All of them are from Guilty Gear X2 (greatest fighting game ever, no questions asked), which uses sprites, and every single character has personality in spades.  GGX2 also shows that sprites can still be used on today's next-gen systems, since it was for the PS2 (originally arcade...).

Guilty Gear is good but I like Street Fighter the best!

The first two were, yes. But not GX. It keeps the same style, but moving it to a photo-realistic environment, unlike F-Zero X's obvious comic-wannabe-ness.

This is comic-book style (Vahoom!)

This is realistic style.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
It doesn't have to be cartoony to look like a comic book.  It's like the Dick Tracey movie--it is realistic, but still retains a comic book feel.

I like my graphics roasted lightly, baked to perfection, and with a side of the finest grown french fries.

Couldn't resist any longer...

Feel and looks are two different things, and we're talking looks now. When I hear "comic book", I think... Well, I think XIII. F-Zero GX takes its preceedor's comic book designs and brings them into a realistic world. It doesn't feel or look cartoony. It looks very realistic. Just the kind of realism where tight and colorful is always the latest fashion.

Colorful realism.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
It always makes me cringe when people talk about realism when you've got guys like Pico running around.

I think what he's trying to say is the GRAPHICS are realistic, rather than stylized.

And I'm trying to say that GRAPICALLY, Pico ain't damned realistic.  :P
Neither is Bio-Rex or Octoman.

Ah, we've got differing opinions on what falls under GRAPHICALLY realistic vs. other kinds of realistic. By graphically realistic, I'm thinking of stuff like, say, the Balrog in LotR. Sure, it's not very realistic to have a firey demon thingy (*hopes he doesn't get crucified by a LotR fan there*) running around, but if he's next to the live-action characters, he doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. But if you put, say, Scooby-Doo or Bugs Bunny next to some random live-action guy, they'd stick out like a sore thumb even if there was some sane reason for them to be together. True, F0-GX isn't quite as good as that, but it's definitly on the realistic side of things. (Although the backgrounds tend to be quite a bit more realistic than the characters.)
Oh, it's that guy
My opinion? flame me becuase i'm a duel GC\X-BOX lover, but splinter cell seemes most comfertable to me, I enjoy it behind the back and looking over the shoulder when shooting a gun, but it really depends on the controller lay-out...
