Houston is a lazy bum. Also, the project was way too ambitious for 1-4 people to ever realistically finish. Also, Houston has vanished into the void somewhere.
Omg, this is the best thing ever, and I had no idea you'd done this, Nate. I guess that's what I get for checking the Prime board almost exclusively.
I can't believe you're hosting a copy of Metroid Prime Discoveries, and I didn't know about it. I wished so many times I could look upon it once more, and here it is. Zell's site...
Nowadays that SM hype is at an all time high (and from what I can tell, Prime is at an all-time low) are the days where my nostalgia for the glory days of this community and this website kicks in the hardest.
I find myself mentioning the early days to a lot of people recently and I talk about this place.
Sometimes I wish the website could find some of its old momentum back , but I also remember how brightly we've burned (Well yeah I personnally lurk a lot, but hey, I still feel like I'm totally part of this), and I feel better when I see that many people here are concerned with the history and the memories behind it, just like I am.
And then I find this thread. Wow. I am going to do a lot of reading right now.
Thank you Nate, thank you arkarian, kip, trebor, pirate109, zoid, biospark, zell99, Radix of course, miles... just everyone. The old school crew and the less old school. Not even trying to mention everyone because memory would fail me. Also I'd die of old age.
All of you guys posting here and the ones going the extra mile. To think how tedious the process used to be, with mailing videos to Nate, etc. I never sent you that video of me bomb jumping the arboretum gate from the other side for your "other" section, like you suggested to me in chat once, Nate.
But I will, why not. It's never too late, I guess.
In the mean time, I just wanted to express how good it feels when you're part of something and you get the confirmation that others are in it for the same reasons. As I said, I know we've burned brightly, and even if the fire is low now, it's still ok, because I know that we're all still nearby, we all love what's happened here, we all care about it, and feel attached to it. And that makes it all better. All fine.
I don't want to stay away from this place. For what it's worth, this is my favorite community on the whole internets, and the place I feel I belong to the most. Even if I haven't checked it as much in the past years (Life, of course, tends to get in the way), it feels safe each time to come back here, it feels like home, no other word for it. I don't really know how to express this without sounding total emo, so there you go.
I'm rambling now, so I'll sign off. It's good to know that you(we)'re still here. Maybe not kicking but most definitely alive. Ok, flame on :D
I wouldn't say hype for prime is at an all time low. in fact prime running is probably healthier than it has been in many years. the original sequence breakers largely exhausted their supply of ingenuity and the torch has been passed to a new generation with fresh perspectives and a new desire to experiment.
less philosophically, it helps that prime works under emulation now. it didn't back then.
surprisingly, fusion has had a revival too. things like 0% on console, new 100% route, and lowering wr times after several years. of course, no one cares about metroid 1, metroid 2, hunters, or corruption.
