Hey, since the board is so young as of now, and there's so few people around, why not give a gift to the early members?  I'd kill to have a custom title :D .

I don't really think we should play favorites like that. I mean, we really appreciate you guys being here from the beginning and stuff, but I don't really want to get hasled by daily requests for custom titles when the board gets more popular. Maybe Tim can work out a system for asigning them, but for now, I'd think not.  :?
Makes sense.  Then, at least, can we have special titles to be gained at 10, 100, 500, 1000, etc. posts?  PLEEEASE? Crying or Very sad

We used to have those. Not sure why we didn't bring them back. Tim?
at another forum I was at, we recieved the ability to make our own titles at 1000 posts. I see two problems to that:

1: i doubt we'll get to 1000 for a while to come
2: that board was invision powered. this one is not ive noticed. Completely different ballpark.
I don't really see what's so great about them. Creating your own would be kind of cool I guess.
But on a similar note, on another message board I was on for a while (Megaman Outpost forums if I'm not mistaken) we had a few problems. The mods decided to remove ranks completely. (well, all except for moderators of course) This was due to flaming. People got big heads because they had large post numbers. Big freakin deal. :x There have been other boards where anyone who had 'Newbie' attached to there name would be lashed out at. Just because of the title. (though, some deserved it.)
But I don't think we will have to worry about all that.
I'm cool without them. They aren't that cool.

The trouble with calling new users "Newbie" is that there's already a neative association with that word. I know the negative term is "n00b" and not newbie but people still react to the term negatively in most cases. With our ranks, even the new guys still get to be Metroids, so I don't think we'll have much trouble with name calling. If there is any trouble, though, it'll be dealt with swiftly and apropriately.
You still can't hide the fact that you're a n00b, Toozin. Even with your crazy words of n00b-lovingness.
Face it, Tooz is the biggest n00b of 'em all... that's why he likes 'em so much. :P

Um yea.  Big post numbers are pretty pointless because anyone can easily post 300 posts a day.

Not without getting banned around here for some truly massive flooding.
Yea, I just mean in general.  The concept of rewarding high post numbers is not all too bright.  I think the current system we have where the original guys get custom titles and everyone else gets ranked titles is good.  That way, we know who is in charge and what not.  There are plenty of forums for custom titles floating around.
I always have to laugh at posters who think they're better than other message board members because they have more posts.  I mean, that's just sad.

I've been places where it's like, you have a low post count and aren't worth talking to.  Such places aren't very pleasant to hang around.  Discouraging new posters turns a message board into a conglomeration of egotistical morons that aren't worth the bytes it takes to display their messages.

And on topic, no custom titles is all good.  Whatever statements you need to make about yourself can be easily done in an avatar or signature.  And the lack of ranking associations such as 'noob' is a plus.

When your penis is this big, you're always comfortable.
So your post count is your penis size in nanometers, correct?
mine is in parsecs......
Wouldn't you pass out when ever you get an, erm, hard-on?
