Whenever I copy and paste instructions from any of the SB's in the MP section, why did you make it so that it is that (sorry for the small put-down)very ugly light gray?

It is really annoying to have to highlight all the text in Word and make it a different color.

You actually use Word for something else than typing letters and official reports? I pity you. Use Notepad, kid. You'll see the wonders of it immediately.
change the style to "printer friendly."

where's that?
It won't appear if you're using IE, use Firefox and go to the page you want.  Then, at the top of the page below the ads, there is a style selection.  The one you should have selected (if you haven't used the stylesheets before) is default.  Change it to Printer Friendly and you've got a good printable page.

It shouldn't be very annoying at all...just triple click the left margin to highlight the entire document, then change the font colour.

CTL+A is the boss!  But going through the process of changing the font, font size, etc. is a pain in the ass to do over and over.
if there's a way to tell os x to globally stop copying text styles, someone please let me know, as i have this problem as well while making dvd case inserts. making a stop in a text editor gets pretty annoying after a while.
Re Word, you can also go to Edit > Paste Special and select "unformatted text" so it ends up in the default font/size/color.  The downsides to this are 1) no keyboard shortcut that I've found and 2) you lose formatting which may also be desirable, such as italicization.  Still, it may be less of a hassle than changing font/size/color even after selecting it all with Ctrl-A.
can't you set your own keyboard shortcuts in word?
Probably.  I just haven't explored it.  Most of the time this comes up I'm at work and have to stay focused on what I'm supposed to be doing, and by the time I have a moment I've forgotten.

Just change the style to Printer Friendly, ok? No reformatting, no weird colors, no nothing!  Just plain text.

@nate:  If you highlight the text and use the application menu>Services>Autosummarize, drag the slider all the way to the right and copy that text, it won't have formatting.
that's the most useful thing you've ever said! thanks.

There is also a FireFox extension for copying text with no formatting.  I can't for the life of me remember what it's called, though.
