well, season five has started and several of us watch the show, so it deserves a thread.

thought the first ep was great. loved abed's references to season 9 of scrubs, which i actually thought was a pretty good season in its own right but i definitely get where he's coming from

britta was also great: "that's like me blaming owls for how much i suck at analogies"

chang too, i love that he's back (but of course he is), and the dean: "it's not easy being dean!"

best part was jeff calling everyone out on how much they've changed. their lives really do suck! and the writers are willing to recognize it's cartoonish, while sort of resetting the show and trying something new

looking forward to watching the second ep later
Thread title:
One shall stand, one shall ball.
They definitely handled the whole Season 4 written by different people thing better than I imagined. Sort of figured they wouldn't address it at all.

I liked the second episode better than the first if only because the first one had to cover so much ground in such a short time that it felt really dense with set up and then just kind of ended. Which is fine because it was followed by Nicolas Cage: Good or Bad?

rotfl, ok yeah, the second episode is great from the start

i love how jeff's cold peronality suddenly starts screwing him over now that he's a teacher. this is really fun to watch, i think dan harmon really needed a year off to come back strong. season 3 was my least favorite.

and oh my god, "nicolas cage, good or bad?" rotlfmao

hahaha the faculty lounge jesus man this season is going to be great
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Hahaha That lounge is pretty much what we always imagined the teacher's lounge was like back in elementery school.
red chamber dream
yeah haha, i was in there once though and remember being totally disappointed ;(

rotflmaao abed's cage impression
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It's so good.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Dude was having such a blast.

and the pop pop guy is back, it's so fucking hilarious how everyone always finds him funny no matter what
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Well he is a one man party.

"it's all based on rows and columns of cells. i think that's why they call it excel!"

"i don't care."
One shall stand, one shall ball.
"I want to kill myself."

"Use that."

Jeff and the Dean have the best exchanges.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah. Harmon really needed that year off, this season's off to a pretty good start.

"i got to go backstage once and meet the whole band. everyone except dave ..."

the ass crack bandit lol, that was such a weird episode
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I am literally a child and couldn't not giggle every time they said ass crack bandit.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
"Here's your sperm."

- Community, Thursdays at 8/7c only on NBC!
One shall stand, one shall ball.
On a Parks and Rec note I wish they'd quit it with these Ann/Chris stories because they are actually kind of super annoying and I would like for the characters to leave the show with me still liking them instead of just wanting them to go away. Community's opener spoiled me and now I just want a Community doubleheader instead of the Community/P&R set I was looking forward to.

"it was dehydration from filling up all of those cylinders!"

so great lmao ... another strong episode that shook things up even mre.

now it's parks and rec time.

haha oh man the "larry" stuff was great ... i've always loved how *everyone*, even chris (who is nice to _literally_ everyone else), is mean to jerry/larry and/or completely ignores him. those bits never get old.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I love how everybody just instantly committed to his name being Larry now.

That his life is basically perfect outside the office is magical.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I think that counts as a win for Britta. Yay Britta.

that was a great episode, for the most part. i really really don't care about abed so his personal stuff didn't do anything, but i will never get tired of "all of greendale gets really into a game" eps

also sad to see troy for the last time, but hopefully this will give abed more interesting plotlines
One shall stand, one shall ball.
And they get into those games so quickly. Give em five minutes after the announcement and you've got roving barbarian bands and homemade battle cars.

I didn't mind the Abed stuff too much in this one since it seemed like a bit of an acknowledgement on the part of the writers (namely Harmon) that Troy and Abed had basically become an all consuming character at this point and for Troy to leave they basically had to kill it.

I am, however, furious that Abed did not deliver a thumbs up as he killed himself. You don't go whiffing on a Terminator reference when it just gets handed to you like that.

haha. for what it's worth, i wouldn't have got it.

but yeah, i love how over the top they go with the outfits and stuff - these are the kind of episodes i like, not semi-realistic stuff like the blanket fort. those eps were just lame.
