So, yeah, the 3DS is gettin' a pretty substantial price cut.  At first I was a little miffed, but then it was also announced that current owners are gonna get twenty free games (ten NES and ten GBA).

While I personally don't care about the NES games (even though they'll apparently have multiplayer added), the GBA thing is pretty huge.  Among other things, I'll be able to finally play Fusion and likely Zero Mission without pirating them.  I gladly would've paid money for those two alone, but the fact that they'll be available for free is just

:3

And, because I've been waiting for a chance to use this:

I doubt they're going to include Zero Mission as well, they'll probably just limit it to 1 Metroid game. At least we get Fusion though.

Well, I can hope, for now.  If they don't release it for free, hopefully they'll at least release it at all.  Like I said, I'd gladly pay for it anyway.
That's okay, 'cause Fusion is better than ZM.

wut

I mean, yeah, Fusion is pretty great, but
Sure, ZM did bring back sequence breaking and all, but it's ridiculously short and easy. Plus, Zero Suit Samus is shit, so that's another demerit. That said, though, ZM is still a great game, but not as great as Fusion.

Eh, whatever.  Either we'll have to get another thread or agree to disagree, because this would probably be a long derail.

So, uh

How about those other five games?  I'm kind of hoping for Minish Cap as well.  Maybe Superstar Saga.  Anyone else hoping for specific titles?
Really hoping for Fire Emblem because, uh, the same reason you want Fusion/Zero Mission. >_>
Heh, me too. I've never played a single game in the series. Wouldn't mind trying one out if it comes out as part of this deal.
If you get all the Marios, Zeldas and Castlevanias, I'd say that Ninty knew exactly how to operate a 'download old games for your modern console' service.

WHICH SCEE DOES NOT aiwebs_018

I don't know if Konami would be okay with them dropping the Castlevanias for free.

I'd say it'd be good enough if they just came out on the VC. I've never owned an official copy of CotM or AoS, and both of those games kick ass, so I'd definitely DL them if they ever come out.

If I had already owned a 3DS, I can guarantee you I would've already put every GBA game I care about on it (for free). FFTA, Fire Emblem, Harvest Moon (friends of mineral town), Advance Wars 1 + 2, one of the pokemons, and the two metroids. Can't really think of anything else worthwhile.

I'm wondering though if since they dropped the price really early if it means we'll see a lite version by the end of the year or early next year. It'd be really nice if they made it so the screen wasn't ass, kinda like what they did when going from the DS to the DS Lite. Oh and of course make the screens a little bigger and move the speakers around or something, because why not.

I doubt they'll bother with a new model until the current one sells something close to not zero units. :v

They kinda fucked up by selling a handheld with no games for 250 and are just now trying to do something about it. The wrong thing, but it's at least a thing.
Hey, the PS3 kind of had the same thing happen to it at its launch, and well, look at it now.

PS3 wasn't entirely dependent on a gimmick though, and had promise of actual games that people cared about. MGS4 was enough incentive for a lot of people, Ocarina of Time 3D not so much.
It does kind of suck though that a lot of the "better" titles slated to come out on the console are ports and remakes :/

There's also Super Mario 3D Land, though, and that is incentive for a lot of people.

Should have been a launch title. Or at least known to exist when the system launched, would have kept the system relevant more more than a week. Maybe.

It was known to exist when the system launched.  It didn't have its final title or release date yet, but it had been confirmed, if I recall.

The PS3 also had functionality outside of just games. Having a built in bluray player and harddrive meant it was also great for whatever media you cared to bring with you.

I always make sure to fill up mine with whatever youtube videos I have downloaded and some movies and stuff, that way when I go to friend's or whatever I can be like "well this movie is shit lets watch something good". The last time it happened my friend who was hosting the party put on bug's life. Once he went to get food or whatever I was like "okay who wants to watch something else" and we all ended up watching funny youtube stuff for the next two hours.

Oh and it also doubles as a mini space heater for your feet. The 3DS can't top that.

Watching silly YouTube videos instead of a Pixar movie?  The rest of your argument is invalid.

A Bug's Life isn't great so it's justified in this case.

Oh weird, I don't remember hearing about it at all until this past E3. Still says a lot about their handling of it though. Neutral

I loved that movie.  :(

Yeah, I'm not saying they handled the 3DS the best they could.  I agree that the launch lineup sucked, but... I remain optimistic.  It's just a little early to be calling the system a failure, in my opinion.
