I can't say I'm happy about the new emoticons, mainly because I think the original set is more than enough and I already had a good idea of what they "stood for" rather than having to learn connotations of new ones (and spend several minutes figuring out what they are to begin with). Most of the new ones strike me as frankly ugly. However, that's not up to me. So I'll just say that I think it's a great impediment to the ARS to add a second, redundant winking emoticon to the sidebar instead of 
. I'd also rather have :| there than another smile, though I don't think that's what was there previously. Wait, wasn't it the 
, which is also part of the ARS?

and i don't know how to change what appears in that block. it just kind of randomly changed when i was messing with the smilies. if anyone knows a quick way to fix that, it would be appreciated.

Nate, you have to change the order of the smilies so that the first 2½ lines in the "View more Emoticons" window look like this:
