i'm with you on that, paraxade. basically i had very few icons to choose from, and those were the best in that set. when we open taiga forum up to other stylists (should be pretty soon), people will be able to add their own icons. i should start looking for some better ones in the mean time.

something like what SMF does where the bgcolor for sticky threads is darker than for normal ones might help to tell them apart without even looking at the icons. most of the icons would be fine if they were deeper shades, though for m2k2 specifically anything metroid-themed would work out nicely. I remember there being screw attack post icons at one point either here or on SCU, but in any case those worked quite well.

nice on the style break. that's a very rare thing that only appears to very special individuals. it's been a long time since i've even seen it ... probably like october. but seriously, i have a secret plan to address such things in the long run.

i've undeleted TheGreenManalishi's post and added delete confirmation for individual posts to the next version.

The other day I was going to copy/paste a user name into a post (yeah, call me lazy)... I guess I had the dropdown arrow highlighted also, so when I pasted their name I got all that other info that appears when you click that arrow. So, I'm not sure... Maybe a space between the username and dropdown arrow?

Edit: That wouldn't look as good as it does now though.

Edit2: If it makes any difference, I was using Firefox, Win XP.

we just pushed a new version of taiga forum tonight, and it's no small update!

changes this time include the ability to delete polls that you've created, youtube playlist links displaying correctly, bugfixes for notifying upon receipt of new messages, better compatibility for willow (iphone), and bugfixes for several issues regarding creating and sending messages.

finally, we're very excited to share with you a feature we've been wanting to include since the beginning. you may have noticed that my avatar now changes every time i post or you reload the page. this is because i'm using my avatar gallery, and you've got one too! just click "profile" at the top of the page and start uploading!

Is it possible to make it so we don't have to upload out random avatars one by one? Like, I'd love to just be able to highlight like 10. This was also really annoying with that other random avatar site I used to use.

Clearly the next goal is to overload each gallery with so many avatars that the forum collapses in on itself. :D

Seriously though, the gallery idea is pretty cool, even if it didn't allow for random avatars it would save me the trouble of digging through my hard drive for the avatar I want for the week.

It'd be interesting to be able to view each other's galleries. Then we can see who the first to upload enough avatars to crash the forum is.

Now that the forum remembers what gets typed in the 'New post' box, but not posted, does that mean that you can see all the crap I decide is not worthy of posting after I've typed it?

i suppose i could see it if i wanted to but that would require going directly from the database; there's no interface for admins to see it.

about looking at others' galleries, this is exactly why we need you guys to tell us these things. it's simple to do (fork just has to include the avatar gallery template in the profile view template). there aren't any permission problems so i think he could actually do it entirely without my help. we'll see i guess.

about uploading more than one at once, unfortunately i don't know of any way to do that without using flash. maybe someone knows but afaik the only way to select more than one file at a time is to do it through flash. :(

we were talking about putting in a user setting that makes avatars not rotate on a per-post basis. i think that's a good idea still, especially for large forums.

perhaps allow users to upload a zip containing a bunch of images? not sure if that's a good idea security-wise though.
