Not everyone's an ass for killing themselves. Some people are chronically unhappy either due to a physical or emotional affliction. I believe some suicides are performed by people who would have gotten better over time, but they were just too down to see that - and that's very very sad. But some people truly aren't going to get better. I knew someone like that and after she offed herself I was really upset about it, but over time I began to feel like she really did know what she was doing. There's a possibility that she may have become happier one day, but it really was unlikely, and if it took 20 years then it just wouldn't be worth all the suffering in the meantime. I think people should really test the water and talk to others about it first, and hopefully take years to decide whether or not they really should do it. (that's what she did)

Wow, that's the first I've heard of the placenta thing. That's pretty silly. 'We're the only mammals that don't eat their placenta' - when I read this, I about died. Someone is making a lot of money off of this flawed logic. I'll bet we're also the only mammmals that don't eat feces. Hmmm... I just thought of a way to get rich off of stupid people!

yeah heh it is some pretty bizarre logic. we're the only mammals that don't regularly shit in the woods too but that doesn't mean we should.

that said, i don't really see anything wrong with someone eating their placenta ... who gives a shit lol

I don't see anything wrong with it either. I do think it's wrong to play on people's fears with pseudo-science to make money, though.

I also remember when they were selling shark cartilage capsules to people because sharks don't get cancer. The logic was that if you take the capsules, then you won't get cancer either! My friend ended up buying them, and I asked him if he thought he would fly if he ate a bird.

on a darker side note: He died from cancer a few months later. When someone dies you end up thinking of every tiny little thing you did or said that could possibly be conceived of as uncool - I guess guilt is part of the grieving process. I guess that's why it burns me when I see people falling for shit like that.
