okay demise 2 is definitely doable without shield. not gonna bother doing that on my hero mode save. not now at least.

i tried parrying ghirahim in that phase. a lot, but it never worked. guess i never swung my sword in the correct directions.

Eh, it's kinda awkward doing it. The direction doesn't matter, as long as you repeatedly swing to the same direction. I have to admit, most of the difficulty in the phase came from simply the controls sucking in that situation.

Well hurr. I mentioned using the shells from the snails to skip a fair part of the desert and getting the map... Paraxade has a video of it already. .-. Yay for late ideas.

Is anyone able to beat the '42' cuts on bamboo island that the gossip stone mentions? My absolute best was 38. I did that when I first got to the island before any sword upgrades so his annoying rant about a longer sword doesn't seem to help.

there's some video on youtube showing off a trick that supposedly easily nets you above 60 hits (the limit, afterwards it goes back to 1). the player there just flings the wiimote up and down really fast.
from what i heard you don't get anything at all for beating the guy's supposed record though.

Eh... I only found out about the place on Hero Mode, tried it a few times, got 35 with the sword without any upgrades. And it was pretty bad.

So, does it net any important prize?

I'm nearly done with hero mode. I'm going to try to figure out what those two empty altar rooms on eldin volcano are for. They can't just be for nothing. If they are, then I'm gonna shit.

Pretty sure there's nothing in either of them. I went back in when I was going for 100% to see if there was a heart piece or something in one of them but I didn't find anything important. Still think they're to recharge health and ammo when doing the final part in Eldin.

If you're right then that sucxks because there ain't shit in there to recharge with. I only get a rupee or two out of one of them, and the other one sometimes has a fairy in it - but only if you have bombs, which means major backtracking during the stealth part of eldin - so much backtracking that the point is moot.

Anywas, boss rush in hero mode has me seething. I've made 2 attempts, and on both attempts I cleared out the hard bosses early and did very well. It was on the early bosses that I just seemed to fuck up so bad, and on both tries I ended up in the final fight against a very early boss - and fucking died. Both attempts took over 25 mins each, and for NADA. Gotta cool off before another attempt.

I've heard that while you can't use potions in trials they aren't removed upon start so you can equip the potion medal and use a guardian potion. On top of that I've also heard that potions seem to last longer than normal in the boss rush at least in normal difficulty.

I heard that too, but when I tried it it didnt work. It was on one of the silent realm trials. I drank an infused stamina potion before entering the trial, but when the trial started my potion was not in effect. Perhaps it only works on certain potions? I don't remember if I had the potion medal equipped or not, but perhaps that's a factor as well.

Finished Hero Mode. The only part that was difficult was the boss rush, in fact I gave up on getting the prized item you get from it and just finished the game without. I have since read that it is possible to use the guard potion+ right before beginning the trial and it lasts for at least three rounds, which would definitely have made all the difference. Imprisoned #2 is the WORST!

Anyways, total time for both games was 106 hours and 20 mins.

BTW,

if the hylian shield is indestructible, why does it have a damage meter on it?

When he's carrying the water up the volcano? I didn't have any trouble on that part on either the first or second playthrough. My sweetie had to have me do it for him - he kept fucking up on it. I just kept killing everything from afar since I had the bow.

You just gotta conserve your arrows, bring an extra quiver with you, or pick up arrows that have been shot at you. It's an easy part, especially if you remember you can reuse enemy arrows.

my umbrella goes directly to Bankai

being able to kill enemies from afar makes this escort pretty easy. unlike the TP escort where you have the enemies in your face.

i think the majority of people are going to agree that the worst part was the song piece collection.
