so can ancient cistern be done early with the levitate code? i see the waterfall's not there when you go there early.

I don't know. I will probably create a new file sometime soon just for testing sequence break potential using levitate how I did with MP3 (which I thought was pretty close estimate of 17% and now Paraxade's record is 18%). But even if no one else uses the information I gather I still enjoy it.

I might do it on hard mode with infinite health since it lets you skip some cutscenes but right now I'm taking a short break because ski resorts in Lake Tahoe are opening up and I have to teach my gf how to board.

Oh and Ryu, if you get the itch to try some of the codes I mentioned it is really easy to softmod any wii all the way up to the latest 4.3 firmware. Check out letterbomb. Once you have Homebrew Channel installed all you need is an app named 'Gecko OS' and your cheats. I really enjoy it. Probably triplied the amount of time I've spent playing Metroid Prime 3 because of all the fun stuff you can do.
I just beat the first temple in hero mode.  It doesn't seem like it's going to be a challenge at all.  I only died a few times in the first playthrough, and that was near the beginning. I didn't die or even need a potion after that, not even on the final boss or any of the other bosses - not even on the stinking boss rush.  The game's just not difficult enough to make double-damage matter.  :(
Most of my deaths came around mid-way into the game, mostly due to the bosses of the 4th and 5th dungeons. Don't think the final boss ever killed me even though he came close both times I've fought him. (I know I failed the boss rush a few times but that was before I really had a handle on some of them.) I doubt I'd die that often now that I'm used to the controls and the mechanics of the enemies and bosses.

But then again, I have barely started Hero Mode so who knows how I'll do. I'd still say SS is probably harder than most of the more recent Zeldas though, even if that increase doesn't make too much of a difference before long.

i'll consider modding my wii when it's no longer supported and i won't have to deal with any software updates from nintendo.

i'm around halfway through the third dungeon on my challenge file and it's still pretty easy, and i doubt it'll become much harder. boss rush is probably the only real challenge on hero mode.

the problem is when you die and choose to continue, you never have to do a dungeon from the beginning. sometimes you'll even restart in the same room you died in, but even if you don't your progress in the dungeon is carried over anyways.
From what I've heard the boss rush includes the final boss when you play on Hero mode. The final reward is 9000 rupees. Not like it is hard to get rupees though...
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
i was pretty bad and died a lot in my normal playthough, but also i wanted to blow past most enemies and that's careless most of the time. at least now i know about the easy strats for most bosses
fighting demise without using the shield because i didn't know about the bolts of lightning helping link was challenging but felt really stupid once i saw other videos.

i died LOTS of times, i am just bad in zelda games though

also, what is this with the lightning helping you in the last boss? i just slash him up when he left a opening, i don't remember using the shield in the fight too...
I went in at 100% with the Hylian Shield and got absolutely mauled by Demise the second time around. Maybe it was because I was trying to be too fancy during the battle or something, but I had to put up the shield constantly during both segments of the fight. On the second part, whenever I tried to use the lightning attack I'd either block one of his own or I couldn't get an opening because he kept charging in at me before I could charge one up and fire at him.

And I thought it was obvious you could do it too when the second part started and he immediately charged up his sword with the lighting. Probably didn't hurt that I had Fi analyze him in the first round and she specifically commented on the fact that I couldn't use Skyward Strikes because of interference.

About Demise - I just noticed that he did three strikes, then there was a tiny opening to hit him once. So i did three quick shield thrusts timed just right to block all three strikes (w/hylian shield of course), then quickly did a slash to his stomach. That was how I did most of the damage.  I did damage him some when he shot from his sword by shield thrusting against the shit that he shot at me, then running over and slashing him a couple times before he could put lightning back into his sword. I'm guessing there are more ways to hurt him, but that's all I could come up with on my first and only fight with him.

Also, if you use an infused guardian potion while carrying the potion medal, you can pretty much go through an entire boss fight without taking ANY damage.  Not sure if this works on hero mode, or on demise fight, but I did use it during one part of the game and it seemed like an eternity before the invincibility effect wore off.
Has anyone figured out just what it is they are trying to get you to do during that damn harp-playing part in the pumpkin place?  Out of dozens and dozens of attempts, I have only succeeded the one time, and that one time was really no more accurate or different than any other attempt - it just worked for some unknown reason.  I have tried to play along just as the guys wave their arms, even writing down the sequence so I know what's coming and have the whole thing memorized, but the controls just don't work that way.  It's not possible to go that fast when they go that fast, or to stop when they stop and start when they start because there's a lag in the controls that exceeds the length of the pause itself.  I have watched people do it on youtube, and they aren't following the guys either, because like I said it really isn't possible - but they are inexplicably rewarded, just like the time when I cleared it for some unknown reason.  I just wish there was some clue as to what it was they were checking for, because without that clue this is undoubtedly the most difficult part of the game - which is fucking stupid.
Yeah, that minigame is the only place where I hated the motion controls in the entire game. I ended up flicking my wrist to the left and right rather than move my whole hand/arm, and even then I was only slightly more accurate with the song than I had been. But apparently it was just enough to get the "acceptable" rating and move on.

I really have no idea what they want you to do in that one. Between that and the "carry the pumpkins" minigame right before, I seriously hate the Lumpy Pumpkin now.
Yeah, Lumpy Pumpkin can kiss my big lumpy ass.
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
tip: you're not supposed to play the harp well, lol.  Just be moving left when the circle is contracting and right when it is expanding, making sure to change direction when the expansion changes to contraction and vice versa.
I don't have a hard time playing the harp during the parts with the expanding/contracting circle. It's that damn lumpy pumpkin kina on-stage bullshit that makes my ass wanna chew tobacco.
The actual harp songs aren't that bad, and I only messed up on them a little by simply not moving at the right speed/tempo with the circle. With the LP stage song, you can apparently be doing everything right and still not pass for whatever reason. I swear, I must've done it about as many times as Opium did before I got through.
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
duh, I'm sorry Opium, you're right, that's different -- those stupid hand-waving audience members...
Apparently it IS different.  One is really simple and one is a pain in the ass.  If they're both simple to you then great.  Tell me and the large numbers of other people like me what we're doing wrong, since nobody seems to be able to do that.  Do some web searches to see what I mean.

Just watched vids of aforementioned skip.  Pretty cool idea.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I apologise if this has already been discussed, but I didn't want to read through the topic in case of spoilers.

It has been noted that it's possible to become permastuck in the game.  Read if you choose to, but I'm sure some of you would prefer some spoilers over a permastuck.

I had wondered if it mattered which order you visited the dragons in.  On my first playthrough, I simply visited the areas in the same order that I originally visited them: forest, volcano, desert. But, I don't recall there being anything mentioned by Fi or anyone else saying that you had to do it in that order, so I assumed that it was totally up to the player, and was going to do it in the opposite order on my current playthrough just to see what it was like.  I'm glad you posted this, as I will not go to the desert first this time.
From what I gather based on Nintendo's feedback the key point seems to be talking to the Goron again after getting the Thunder Dragon's part of the song but before finishing one/both of the other two parts. I went Forest/Desert/Volcano in my run, but I probably went straight to the sky afterward using his room's bird statue after getting the song piece, seeing as I was able to finish the game properly.

Still, nice to finally have a list of what path appears to trigger this.
I think I'm just gonna do the thunder dragon last every time. I'm afraid i will have a brain fart and go talk to the goron without thinking and really screw it up.  I guess I am surprised that this made it past the testers.

which goron? there's three or four of them in the game.
I believe they're talking about the one that is in the lanayru cave standing next to the doorway that leads to lanayru gorge.
