First, let me just say that I am not trying to offend anyone by trying to lure them offering money. I really love and respect you guys. My intention is pure when I offer money. Money in this case may stimulate and motivate anyone to break kips record or perhaps it wont, but at least I wanted to give my idea a shot. Here is the thing: I offer between 50-100 U.S dollars to anyone who can break kips 1:04 any% run. I have spoken with a few guys about this and some of them considered to "chip in" and ladies and gentlemen, thats the whole point of this idea. Everyone who might consider to donate money, please step forward because I think speedrunners might be more interested if the prize money is larger if we all chip in. I reckon, if there are enough people who are willing to do this, we will easily reach a 500 dollars bounty, if not much more.

The aim for the speedrunner is simple: -Aim for sub 1 hour. It obviously must be a legit speedrun by SDA standards.

If anyone should do this speedrun it should be one of these guys:

1. Paul 'Bartendorsparky' Evans. One of my favorite speedrunners.
2. Kip. A legend.
3. DJ Grenola. Also one of my favorite speedrunners.
4. Kim 'Silent_Echo' Saifa.
5. Shawn 'smilingjack13' Jones. :)
6. Robert 'Trebor' Nobles.
7. Stefan van Dijke. (do you got a NTSC version?)
8. William 'pirate109' Tansley. (do you got a NTSC version?)
9. Besmir 'Zoid' Sheqi.
10. TRH.
11. ?

If I missed anyone, I deeply apologize. Anyone who really wants to see a 0:59 run and have the opportunity to support my idea, once again, please step forward.

Why you not can promise 1000000 usa dollars if somebody break kip 1.04 run.

His run was absolutely perfect.

Maybe i can du it if you promise 1 million dollars. But 100 dollars is not enought yet.

And you are absolutely wrong, surprise-surprise. %)

Sparky made an unfinished test run some time ago while discussing the possibility of an IBBF route, and it was already faster (note: test run!) than kip's, so I think an improvement of a few minutes is definitely possible.
the funny thing to me is that for the amount of time it would take someone to do a 0:59 run, even a $100 reward would end up being like way less than a dollar an hour.

probably if anyone ever does it, they'll do it for the love of the game.

nice idea though. ;)
I think beating kip's run is fairly easy (er, "easy"). 0:59 is a different matter. And I'd love to give this a shot but it would probably take a whole year, and also I don't think I'm anywhere near good enough. And I would come out of the other side completely and totally insane.

But maybe .. just maybe I'll give it a shot sometime.

Heh first time here when i am wrong. anyway. grin new

Sparky said long time ago he know he can beat kip run.

But he not never complete that test run. Maybe sub hour is possible, but he maybe have lot new tricks. I wait his run. :-s

Still Kip run is best possible. His run are old, but maybe Sparky have lot new tricks, yeah maybe he can improve that one. Without new tricks Kip run was almost perfectly. Wink
I find this topic disturbing.
is it the money?

edit: MY SIG WANTS TO KNOW TOO
red chamber dream
I will do it for no less than 599 U.S. dollars.

Im sorry to disappoint you but I do not have 1 million dollars. Of course I can easily raise my share of the money but I guess I should spend them on more personal important things.

Hehe, would be funny if we would reach like 550 :)
(user is banned)
hmm...

if thats the case, maybe i should wait for the bounty to go higher to release my 0:20...
<_<

of your list, i'd say that the likely people to do it are

1. Paul 'Bartendorsparky' Evans. One of my favorite speedrunners.

3. DJ Grenola. Also one of my favorite speedrunners.

7. Stefan van Dijke. (do you got a NTSC version?)

10. TRH.

12. Lolme
but i'd say the most likely person is:

11. ?

Kip isnt on the list, because as far as i know, he's long gone, and i havent seen Stefan around lately (though hes a monster at mp).

Id attempt a run if i could do the DBJ over the GTH bars :|
Cook of the Sea
Speedrunning and money should not mix.  Not now, and not ever.
Viking
Precursor
Tell TG that.
and me ... >_>
I guess that it is possible to break the game sub 1 h.
Just watch the latest Super Metroid run, that was 4 minutes which faded away.
And still there were some minor mistakes...

I think it depends on the circumstances but in general, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am just very desperate to get someone from my list to get started.

That's kinda...weird.
Can't even capture, sorry.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
what were the version differences between jp and us mp1?

if what happened with super metroid repeats, the new mp1 wr will come from japan.

or at least that's my far-fetched and weird theory.
too bad metroid became even less popular there after super.

It would help if you could elaborate what you are thinking. Zoom stated he found this topic disturbing without saying why. I am just trying to get the ball rolling, thats all. If my idea is so terrible then feel free to lock this stupid thread, but as I said, just trying to get some activity for a 0:59 run.
Personally I think this is a noble goal.
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
Although at this point just what "goal" you're referring to is almost impossible to figure out.
encouraging the production of a :59.
Is sub 1 hour even possible,  where do you think that 5 min can be picked up?  Thats a whole lot of time in a 1 hour run.
