Like shirts or caps at jinx or cafepress or something?  I'd definitely buy some if nate worked something out.

*hint hint*
Thread title:
red chamber dream
capo asked me about this earlier and although I knew we already had a topic about this, I thought it was a good idea to make a new one. I second his request for t-shirts and would be willing to do any work to get them into production.
Heck yeah, I'm for it.  Don't know how much I can actually help setting something up, but I'd definately buy a shirt and a ball cap or something.
i don't have the rights to the name (nintendo does) so i can't really do anything official. just for crying out loud make sure it looks good. i'd love to grab one, as well.

Well it obviously couldn't be official if we used "Metroid 2002", but we could make official "m2k2" shirts that don't actually say Metroid anywhere on them. I'm thinking maybe shirts that say "m2k2" with "beautiful/powerful/unstoppable" (hey, it may be from "I am", but it's still awesome) or "dependable/credible/accountable" on them.

Of course we could also have someone distribute unofficial "Metroid 2002" shirts and whatnot-- I'd do it with some help creating the design. Cafepress afaik doesn't allow you to make black shirts (I wouldn't wear an m2k2 shirt unless it were black), so we'd have to find a better site.
If "Metroid" is a registred trademark then you are not allowed to make profit from the name or anything else.
But I'd be fine with "m2k2" Wink
fork, i thought you loved the duff. and here's a better site.

I dont supoose they'd ever give out permission if it was non-profit?

Who wants to contribute to 13M13's "I Want To Tattoo The Screw Attack Logo Above My Crotch" fund?

We'd probably have to adjust that title to qualify ;)

Of course I do ("I am" is one of my favourites of hers). I only put the disclaimer because "beautiful/powerful/unstoppable" isn't completely an m2k2 thing; it's from Duff. That doesn't mean we can't or shouldn't put it on a t-shirt, though.

And yeah, Zazzle looks good to me.
Hmm, I'm not sure if we could somehow get the Fair Use Act in on this to help us out, but it's something I'll look into after work.
i'm sure something on this small a scale will be fine.

I started on a very preliminary design and came up with this:

On the back, near the top, will be "http://www.metroid2002.com" or just "www.metroid2002.com".
Note that the TBJ sequence is not to scale yet and frankly looks like crap(well, the last two steps aren't). Saber's working on getting me his to-scale and better version, so it'll be a nicer-looking image overall on the finished shirt.

I also tried formatting the "impossible ..." tagline so that "impossible" was on a line of its own above "is nothing" but think that it looks better the way it is. The less boxy the better imo. And speaking of boxes, if you couldn't tell, that dashed box around the whole design won't be seen on the actually shirt and can't be made any bigger, which is unfortunate but still works fine.

Do you like? Not like? What should be different? What should stay the same?

EDIT: here's my other idea!!!!!
Now THAT would confuse anyone not in the know. ;)  I can just see the reaction: "What kind of freaked-out smiley is that?"

Having said that, I will now demonstrate my ignorance by asking if the underscores are crucial in representing some part of the process, as opposed to being placeholders for formatting purposes or some such.

I know there was some subtitle here that I thought would be good or funny for a shirt but can't think what it was now.  Possibly "since 2003". =)
One shall stand, one shall ball.
TBJ shirt FTW!

I'm pretty sure the underscores are just for formatting purposes.
looking pretty good ... i'm wondering if it would look better to put an arrow underneath pointing right (to make the progression of events more clear).

It's too busy.  Stick with just the TBJ representation.  Also, the underscores are redundant.

Yeah, I really have no idea. I thought they represented the ground or something, but looking at it now, that makes no sense. Once I get Saber's rework (it's on a computer he doesn't currently have access to), it'll look loads better.

And about confusing those who aren't in the know: that just makes it ten times better imo. It's the best representation of the site I can think of without using a the m2k2 logo (koff ripped from Nintendo koff).
We've (nate and I) have also discussed offering the shirt with various forum subtitles and letting the buyer choose. "since 2003" and "run" would definitely be our top picks. :)
Hehe, the comment about confusion wasn't intended to be a criticism.  Incomprehensibility to the rest of the world is pretty unavoidable anyway.

"run" may have been the one I was thinking of.  But it's not uncommon to see things like "est. 1990" on shirts, so "since 2003" might result in a fun double-take if it's placed under the url.  Would "go go go" under the TBJ be funny or stupid?  "yeah, we've got a vid for that" might work too.

Who said you should ever ask them if you put it's non-profit on the page they're on... *cough* Metroid In Motion *cough*;)

All those are great ideas imo. Perhaps all the versions of the shirt should include a back that reads "www.metroid2002.com" with "since 2003" under it.
Shifty Leader
That M2k2 guy
I gotta get a shirt that has one of the Barriers from ZM on the front and "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!" on the back.
Stuffs. Yar.

But you can't.
