How is he different in the PAL and JAP versions, Nate?

I could simply check on the site... but... I'm lazy.

agreed. meta ridley is a very well designed boss, especially in the na versions.

Heh, except for that whole boost ball thing. That's probably one of the most embarassing glitches I've ever seen, next to Space Station: Silicon Valley's "you can't touch this" item.
That glitch rocks.

Copy and Paste, AWAAAAAAAAY!

- Meta Ridley's ground phase was heavily altered for the Japanese, European and Australian versions of the game.

- The boss can be successfully stunned using lock-on as he leans back to charge in the Japanese, European and Australian versions.

- He can always be hurt in his "in pain" state in the Japanese, European and Australian versions, in contrast to the buggy North American version, in which he is often invulnerable after certain kinds of stuns.

- He was given a new "power stomp" attack in the Japanese, European and Australian versions.

- The Wavebuster is not nearly as effective in the Japanese, European and Australian versions as it is in the North American version of the game.

-Meta Ridley drops Ultra Energies in the Japanese, European and Australian versions of the game when:
*His attacks destroy a pillar entirely (since his non-physical attacks take 3 hits before completely destroying a pillar)
*When you are able to stun Ridley in the split second before he charges (with the plasma beam on hard mode, one charged shot and one regular shot before he closes his mouth)

(BTW, why the fuck does flood control also apply to editing posts? I have to sit here and wait to get rid of the accidental extra tag.)

Hmm... that's mighty interesting. So, I take MR's easier in the PAL and JAP versions?

it depends. he's harder to kill quickly in pal, but he's easier to kill your first time in pal.
what exactly is this "power stomp" move?
Ive heard of it, but I really can't imagine what it could be...
thoughts of him flying above you and slamming down come to mind, but so do just something involving him lifting a leg and slamming it down to create a shockwave of some sort...

check the pal video there.
wow, the power stomp looks pretty cool, but otherwise he seemed far easier to beat in that version.
And whats with him randomly coughing up ultra energies. O_o

I like Fusion's the best just because he has the classic Ridley feel, but he's seriously rabid and crazed.
I like Super Metroid's Ridley. He's alot harder.
I liked Super Metroids.

He killed me sooooooooooooooooooo many times!

Fusions Ridley I creamed first time.
Meta-Ridley I killed after dying once (I didn't expect him to be there so I went in injured dddduuuhhhh)

But SMs Ridley was REALLY hard!
Cook of the Sea
Well, yeah, Fusion's was insanely easy.  I can't remember ever pausing in my ceaseless Missile firing, and I don't think I missed, either.  He was down fast.
Yeah, TOO fast.
Fusion's Ridley was easy...but Zero Mission's was a joke :P
Cook of the Sea
Not in low-percent, he isn't.  Also, in my speed run in Normal, I went in there with 2 Energy Tanks and no Varia.  I had just enough Ammo to take him out without ever having to refill, but it was mostly in the form of nrmal Missiles, so it was tough surviving that long.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Sounds like someone doesn't know about the wimp method. You really gotta put that up soon, Nate.
Cook of the Sea
Oh, come on, I know about that.  Stay under him, btween his front and back claws, and fire missiles/super missiles one at a time.  Then he won't hit you with dive and fireballs, which you can easily shoot for powerups from under there, and he won't attack with his tail very often.  I've already beaten 15% Normal, I just didn't want to take that much time on my Speed run, becasue it was my first one and I didn't know how much time I'd need later on.  I opted for a go-in-shooting and hope you can take him out before he can takes you out.  More challenging, and it worked, too.  that doens't mean it was easy.  I'm all about wimp methods, I even improved on the best one I saw for a low-percent Mother Brain fight.  Now watch me wiggle my upper lip at you.  Laughing (Am I the only one that thinks that Emoticon looks more like that than it does chuckling?)
Despite it being a hard fight on low-percent if you don't use the wimp method, just knowing it exsists takes away from the coolness factor of Ridley if you ask me. He's still fun to fight though, every now and then a boss you don't need to think about to fight is a good thing.

And no, you're not the only person who thinks that emoticon has serious issues. I refuse to ever use it because of how stupid it looks.

EDIT: removed the blatent misues of English and typo that together made my thoughts on the retard smiley unclear.
Cook of the Sea
I can see what you're sayig about Ridley.  If you know about a cheese, It's like even though the boss might be really hard without the cheese, you still have the advantage because you know you're not using the cheese because you don't feel like it, and you can pull it out whenever.

However, I don't like to use Emoticons, I prefer a nice :D, but that "Laughing" one is the only one I will use because it looks so stupid!

Easy answer. Much cooler looking, plenty of cool weapons, and actually makes you think instead of barraging with missiles. Prime is a no-brainer for me.
