My GBA-GCN connector actually doesn't cover the shoulder buttons at all, so that isn't a problem for me.  I have also had a connector that almost completely covered the shoulder buttons, which was a great inconvenience.

Nah, I mean that where the rest of my fingers from mid-finger out would normally be, an ofikal connector piece is.  Makes for any shoulder-button-intensive work to become weird, since my hands would have to adjust to holding the SPee solidly and controllably while still getting a good positioning for teh sholdarz.
OH ****!!!!
Thats why i just got a GCN connector cable with a tiny plug for that reason. :P

I love the timing on this since my L-button on my DS has been acting up recently, making it harder to aim in MZM and Metroid Fusion. But whenever I swap to playing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, it starts to work again. Weeeiirrd.
That's interesting.  I've had that same problem before, except with my SP's R button.  It began to randomly act unresponsive, but only when I played ZM or Fusion (and especially upon entering iron ted's room).  The R button worked perfectly with every other game I played on my SP.

A while later, the L button also stopped working when I played ZM or Fusion.  And yet, both shoulder buttons still work perfectly with other games.

This is why I use another SP as a controller when recording myself.

My SP's L button also acts up, but all i play on it is Fusion/ZM.

Eh, my SPee's only quirk is that one shoulder is clickier than the other (R clickier than L).  On SPee II ("Spee Dohss"), one of em, L maybe, had started acting up, and this was during KHCOM, so the imperative need to choose my cards became a concern.
Yeah, my SP's R button stopped working some time ago. Using nate's atm, working great. Thanks nate! ;)
One shall stand, one shall ball.
nate has an R button?

It's not the run button by any chance, is it?
I love the SP myself. I once tried to play it on the Cube with the standard controller but that's just horrible. Also, it lags to much to even play well, but I just need to buy a split cable I think.

If only my old GBA wasn't as busted as it is, well, the screen has huge  'scars' lol. I wonder how that would play.

My GBA's screen got totalled on the inside from being under the interior force of my backpack's weight, but it works fine as a controller.  I'm finding myself wishing I god press less hard again the D-pad, since my thumb hurts after a while, but when I try to let up, I fear I won't be pressing down on it anymore.  This has led me to believe that for games where you have to hold a direction, the GBA's (and, assumably, micro's) "squishy" D-pad(s) are better, since the opposing force allows (or might allow) you depress it less while still feeling that you're actually pushing down on it.  With the SPee, it feels like if I let it, it'll click out of place just enough, ad teeter-tottering with something that doesn't push back makes for a one-sided seesaw feeling.  ... or something.
