What should i do first the 15 % normal or the 100 % normal
i am very very bad at diagonal bomb jumping and good at wal jumping (if it helps)
Thread title:
If it's for speed, try 15% first cause it's very frustrating to get the items perfectly or reseting in 100%
Although, if you just want to do it, then go for 100% cause it's much easier.
Although if you do both than do 15% first as if you do 100% first, you'll be careless with all the energy tanks and that will carry on in 15%, which you need the most and must not be careless.
ok do you have tips on what the items should be? i know you need ice beam , the mysterious items , varia suit (you can skip but you get it anyway when you get gravity suit) bombs morph ball missile tank and i dunno for sure a super missile tank 6 % left wich items?
With your extra six percent, I suggest 3 super missile tanks, an energy tank, and power grip or speed booster.
always move fast
if you are not going for speed, maybe for the extra 6% have:
3 supers (6 total) (can you get 3 without speed boost?)
screw attack
speed boost or high jump
energy tank

the supers make meta-ridley and motherbrain/zebetites much easier and quicker, and the screw attack is nice to have for general enemies and the like. the energy tank as a backup for when you need it, and then either the speed boost or high jump for mobility issues.
There are more than 6, you can choose: super missles, missles, energy tanks, long beam, speed boost, screw attack, hi-jump/spring ball, wave beam, charge beam, power bombs but I would reccomend 3 energy and 3 super

BTW: you don't need the super missle

EDIT: WOW, double simu-post (I sure took a long time posting)
i think i am gonna go with 3 super ,energy tank, power grip and hi- jump
Did I say power-grip? I meant hi-jump, sorry.
power grip is required because the developers put a barrier that leads to the first big shaft of Norfair that doesn't dissapear untill you get power grip.
in conclusion, get it
Yeah, the ninth required item is power grip, not super missiles. The game prevents you from progressing without power grip.

Spring ball and high jump are not separate items.

You can get three supers without speed boost, all in Ridley. The first allows you to get to the second, and the third is Imago's.

D'oh, the first part is already redundant. Too lazy to delete, though.
ok thanks but ehm i dunno how to get into the part where you get hi jump
i bomb the ground and i see speed blocks and screw blocks (not planning to get them)
Time bomb set get out fast!
To get any farther into Norfair without defeating Kraid, you need to use the Ridley before Kraid sb. (Top video.) This doesn't trap you -- you can get back out of Norfair without actually fighting Ridley.
My recollection is that you can get there via some morph ball cannons if you take the shaft to Ridley down to the bottom. I'm pretty sure some run I've watched recently gets it after Ridley.

...I just checked. It's not cannons, it's walljumping up the side parallel to the Ridley-first shaft. After you leave, though, you do use a cannon to get back up to the level where you enter Norfair. Check GC04's any% run.
ok got it thanks umm i read somewhere that you can get a super missile in ridley without beating the wasp
is it true?

I don't think it's true. The only (dscovered) places that you can get early super missle is in Brinistar and Craiteria.
No, I'm fairly sure there's one in Ridley just sitting out in the open waiting to be taken. Can't remember exactly where it is, but it's in there all right.

It's not considered "early", though, as it's in Ridley, and thus would normally come after Imago anyway.
I remember! It's in the top-left as if you came normally there's an energy tank across from an invinsible gap, if you keep on going left you'll eventually find one.
Huh? That's just the usual way to go, and you need a super missile already to go to the left after the elevator. I think you're thinking SM lower left of Brinstar, though there's still a green door there.

We're talking about one above and to the right of Ridley's room. In the vertical room a few rooms to the right of Ridley's room, where there's a row of crumble blocks near the top and a short vertical platform with a missile expansion on it, there's a door in the upper left. Go through that and the next room and there's a super missile just sitting there. You can then bactrack three rooms to the right and get rid of a super missile block to get another super missile tank.
To make it all clear:
Tell me where you are.
When you enter Ridley, go right and do the freeze/bomb jump into the ceiling trick. Continue right until you get to the vertical shaft, then go left past the huge side hoppers.

You'll come to a room that has a bunch of orbs flying. One room past that is the shaft with the floating vertical wall with the missile on it. Freeze one of the orbs to use as a platform to jump over the wall and missile, and continue left.

Past this room with giant hoppers is the free Super Missile. Now, if you go back to the room with the flying orbs, you'll have another free Super Missile.
Or, to put it another way, the super is the blue dot diagonally above and to the right of Ridley's room. After you get it, you can go three rooms to the right and get the other blue, er, green dot in the upper right of that room (the box below the top save room). That one's blocked by a super missile block, though, so you need to get the first one I mentioned first.
ok i'll try it looks hard to skip the normal missle tank at first so i just dropped down guess i'll start over :(
What I do is freeze one, then freeze the other as it`s coming down at you from above. I then jump onto the first one, then I jump to the right, wall-jumping off of the wall that`s hanging down, onto the top of the second frozen one. From there, I turn into a morphball, as you can`t stand on it, and roll over the missile tank, to the door.

It takes a few tries, and you need to freeze the second one almost pixel-perfectly.
Why not just wall jump off the top of the structure and follow completely over the missile, like everyone else does? The design is perfect for it.
ok one of the items i chose was hi-jump and i froze one of the creatures and wanted to jump on top of him but i just jumped right to the other side without touching the missile or the creatures so that worked :D but now ridley is very hard i tried the cheesing strat but somehow he always starts to swing his tail after i have shot al my missiles and super missiles and i die Crying or Very sad got tips?
