So here's an example of how you can walk out of bounds while you're fighting mother brain:

As you can see in the end of the video, I hit a transition blocks that takes me back to the room prior to the room I'm currently in.

Now, my question is: Do you think there is a transition block here that could lead to the escape?

I don't have the tools or enough knowledge to look into the OOB area to find that out myself.

Almost happy
As far as I know, the only way to get there to be a transition block that takes you past MB is to visit a room with some special properties (IIRC it has to be a room with fireflies) before you enter MB's room, without traveling much in between. Effectively what this means is that you have to do one of two things. Either you create a save in Green Brinstar, save when you reach the end of Tourian, load the GB save, die in the fireflies room down left of the elevator room and load tourian again. Or you can save in tourian, reset and let the ingame demo play for about 3 minutes after which the demo will put you in said Green Brinstar room, and then just start the game again. As far as I know the jist of it is that this leaves some crap loaded in the RAM which affects the blocks that are created out of bounds in the room. Someone like PJ probably knows the technical side of that better.

As for navigating when OoB I don't really have a good idea of how. I guess using an emulator with RAM-watch to read your position would help in order to spot the place the transition block is placed if you actually find it, and then trying to create a consistent way of finding it when you know the X/Y-position.
