First post, first time here. Followed a link from the Low % Run at GameFAQs. Nifty site; I'm learning quite a bit just from perusing the forums.
Anyway, I've played through MP several times and decided to tackle a Low % Run. I've managed to follow the tutorial on GameFAQs (http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/file/metroid_prime_low_percent.txt) and have just obtained the power bombs.
Here's where I'm stuck. The Ventilation Shaft (the only way out without the spider ball) is frustrating me beyond description. I've invested roughly six hours trying to escape it. The tutorial and the information on the website both say to roll up to the lip near the energy tank and drop bombs in a sequence, but I just can't seem to do it right. If I go straight up the ramp as described, I end up being unable to switch out of Morph Ball mode due to some vent-looking thing above me. I tried doing the same technique while not against the lip, but I don't seem to get enough air that way.
I'm going insane, knowing it -can- be done but that I -can't- do it. Does anyone have any more information on how to approach this? I must be doing something wrong... a video would be especially helpful. I'm using NTSC Launch (not Player's Choice). Thanks to anyone who might help.
I'm glad I didn't decide to do a speed run...
