I decided to try this on a whim because all the other setups and stuff seemed silly after really looking into them and I thought it would probably be possible to do the original dash just without SJ... turns out it is.

1) read description
2) watch (at least click through it)

woah nice! and quite a low time for first playthrough - at least compared to my 54:49. now on hard mode? ;)

The only reason it's so high is because I accidentally saved after attempting GTC for like 2 1/2 ish hours...

Maybe hard mode. Not soon though. Metroid Prime on Normal almost drove me to suicide.
Damn dude that's a cold-ass honkey

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this, or Glitches, or Speedtricks. But check this out:

I can't imagine many practical non-TAS uses for something like this off the top of my head. But the Magmoor Worksation SW w/o Space Jump might be possible using the pirates projectiles to get some distance and BSJ out? The thought of doing something like this never crossed my mind before, I imagine it could have interesting TAS uses. I believe that if you were to press R and L when you unmorph, you could damage dash out of this... :)

This is interesting! Nice find! Idk either where to search for places/ situations to make use of this but there should indeed better be an application for this. ;)

About the NSJ Magmoor Workstation SW: Let's be thankful that it sounds so hard to do non-TAS for a speedrun that I don't have to care for my 21% hard mode speedrun. :p
I might look into that but not soon at all.

Do you mean like the PAL Thardus "Dash"? (non-SJ-"dash" respectively)

Btw I (almost) always am local recording when doing anything in this game. You never know with certainty that something totally unexpected might happen.

Yes, or like any damage boost you can do in this game. After more thought, I imagine that getting hit as you unmorph would give optimal speeds (faster than max dashing speed if done correctly on the right projectile/enemy). Essentially, the trick I imagine possibly working for Magmoor Worksation, is a normal BSJ, and then damage dash. Two completely separate tricks. I messed around with it on Dolphin and had a very hard time getting an instant unmorph in any useful place, though.
What was done in this video I could only see being useful if you just need a little extra distance after your unmorph (you'd need to unmorph facing sideways which is kinda questionable), or if you can only obstruct the camera by doing that.
example: being something this video, where the ledge is too far back to obstruct the camera with a normal bomb jump.

I had achieved this like 1.5 months ago but never uploaded it for some reason I forgot...
Anyway, I put some effort into the description in case anyone wants to take the challenge. I mean it's been fun for mne and in fact just taken me a couple of hours.
rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Now do it without spider.

same as with 21% SS hard mode: I do not want to do it at the moment. It doesn't matter that I think I could complete both challenges. It's just out of reach for my insanity at the moment.

lol i watched the whole thing. good job ^^

also, this fight killed M177s hilariously close to fully successful 21% SS hard mode attempt plus I remember having died to phase 2 like 8 or 9 times in my one and only 21% segmented playthrough on hard mode. so really, this fight is the biggest single reason i don't feel like putting effort into 21% SS hard mode...
Good stuff
Jumping too late sucks. I wish i could just fight ridley twice
Found a good dash to replace that stupid ass DBJ. Hard to miss.

I completed Phendrana's Edge 21% yesterday! (Apparently with the hardest strats >.>)

I figured something out with M177's dash setup. When using it, I always hit the side of the tree. But if I scoot forward a tad bit more, it was more consistent; aka 4 times in a row consistent.

That dash is just weird and annoying in general. :(
Sorry for the triple post. I made a video on the dash in phendrana's edge. I put in a little research and came up with a modified version of M177's (credit given in description). Cheers

has anyone verified that aiming the scan visor to the side like that actually does anything? It doesn't feel like it does to me and itsPersonnal didn't think so either when I asked him about it.
Hey it works for me. That's all that matters :P
No, it doesnt do anything. The visor snaps to the scan point the frame after you lock on anyway
