These just looked better without transparent backgrounds, in my opinion:
And these I lack the technology to give transparent backgrounds to. For some reason... Perhaps someone more GIMP/Photoshop talented than me can git r dun.
And the rest are doing that annoying white border thing. I'm working on 'em, but they may take a while.
After making "Amorbis2.jpg" into the small, cut out version, I made the mistake of not saving a PSD, and when I closed it, I realized that my test layer had been activated, and so it has a black background. My second one turned out very badly, and that was when I decided not to do it anymore.
Still, the other two aren't bad. I discarded the DTM outer glow and reapplied one myself instead. Worked out very nicely…
After an hour of stitching images together, I have determined that it wasn't smart to try it in the first place. The only reason I did it was because some of the MP2E pics I wanted to make into avatars were not entirely suitable for the purpose, so I made hi-res versions. It also gave me one more reason to hate interlaced video. Here's what I got though…
Took me 11 tries and a few hours, but this looks pretty good now:
If you're using subsilver, it might not look so nice, but I don't think I'm capable of removing the smoky area at the bottom. At least I managed to preserve the blue glow…
Tallon Metroid from Echoes. Yes, the metroid itself is transparent… I did it for nn12000, then realized that he wanted one from Prime, not Echoes. I'll probably attempt one from Prime too, but in the meantime, another for the gallery!
Question - the last several posts contain .png avatars with light gray rectangles for backgrounds. Like this:
I'm using Internet Explorer as my browser. Do these avatars show as transparent bkg for people using other browsers (Firefox, etc)? I'm just wondering if IE doesn't support .png transparency. I know for the few transparent avvies I've made, if I save as a transparent .png they do NOT appear transparent on my browser, whereas if I save as a transparent .gif they do.
Correct. IE does NOT support PNG transparency, whereas Firefox, Safari, and others do. One more reason to get another browser!
Very true - but on my work computer, I doubt the network admins would appreciate me trying to download and install a new browser. Plus, I probably don't even have the administrative privileges to do so. :( ... Now I just wish I could see the rest of those avatars with transparency. Those 2 Quadraxis avatars look sweet indeed.
